we all decided to check out the art gallery which shares space with Tostadas...
The current art exhibit features work by Daphne Hill; the exhibition is called "Worth a Shot". Below, the listing of her artworks on display, which were for sale/

This is the description of her work from the Art Produce website:
"Mixed media paintings about HPV, the cancers we can prevent with a vaccine, and how denial and misinformation often hinder efforts to make life better for pre-coital youth".
HEH? W. T. F.!!!!!
Where the hell did THAT come from? All I saw were heavily shellacked wooden cut outs of pinup girls and various Alice in Wonderland illustrations (from John Tenniel) juxtaposed with lacy prints and images of crabs and and frogs. Bert thinks the tassel looking things are bacteria.
Am I missing something here?
That being said, veneral disease prevention message or not (which I totally don't even see from looking at the artwork), I liked the artworks, especially the blue one. It is so round and pretty. Say that in a robotic voice. But seriously, I did like the artwork here. Very creative.

A few blocks down the street was the newer location of North Park dessert mainstay, Heaven Sent. It was time to check out their new digs...

I thought the tassel looking things were like robot hands... not a message about VD prevention... totally didn't get that either! Maybe I'm not artsy enough.
Bert totally thinks those are bacteria strains as seen under a microscope. I guess I'm not that arty either, haha. Robot hands, I love that explanation better.
