Iceskimo

After dropping off D at the newly opened Filipino School in Mira Mesa (a separate post is forthcoming), we had a bit of fun wandering the aisles of  H-Mart along with Daiso where everything is oh-so-cute-but-also-oh-so-unnecessary...

Our last stop that afternoon was at the new'ish brick and mortar location of Iceskimo, a shaved snow dessert place in the heart of the Convoy district...

You can't miss the robin's egg blue exterior. It's also in this strip mall which also houses the newly opened Kula Revolving Sushi Bar...

The First Korean Market is now gone and has been replaced by the newly relocated Dumpling Inn which shares space with its hipster counterpart, Shanghai Saloon...

I know I put in a lot of OCD details but for me, it's always helpful to see signs and also what stores/eateries came before. It's the wannabe historian in me. I bet in a couple of years some of those businesses will change on that big sign.

You can either make your own creation or choose from several pre-designed choices. While all of them looked good, we all decided to just share ONE. As much as we would have liked to each have our own, we were just too sugared out but felt we could at least share a dessert.  So, the cleverly named Bruce Lychee it was.

Behold:

I didn't think I would like that fig jelly but it wasn't so bad! The mango poppers were also fun to eat. They kind of remind me of those large fish eggs but luckily didn't taste like that.

Who else went to this new Iceskimo (not the pop up formerly housed at the now defunct Pangea Bakery):
Several of my friends went, such as Cathy (Feb 2015), followed by Kirbie in March, as well as Jinxi.

If you have just logged on, here is a recap of this year's Birthday Crawl:
"Belated birthday brunch with the Educator GF's @ The Patio on Goldfinch"
"Return to Kettle & Stone"
"More Nomadic Donuts"

And in tribute to our dessert's namesake:

Here is a photo taken nearly 10 years ago when we visited Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, BC. for our ten year wedding anniversary trip. The gravesite was at Lakeview Cemetery.

(photo of Bruce and Brandonn Lee's graves taken from our visit to Seattle 10 years ago; the post was called, "Old Pix" from September 2008)

More recently, we checked out the Bruce Lee statue in LA's Chinatown:

I'll have to come back here to Iceskimo next time with Bert and TC or at least with TC and her friends (like KDD)...Summer vacation is just around the corner and I'm getting that end of the year "antsy feeling"

We were just at Iceskimo yesterday! They have a new flavor now - passionfruit ice. It was actually pretty good. It was only my 2nd time here so it was fun to try them out again on a rainy afternoon. They also serve two teas now as well.

Hi Faye - Oh wow, now THAT is a flavor I'd enjoy, Passionfruit. I hate the parking here. We ended up parking in another lot behind it.
