Holsem, a new coffee place had just opened up earlier that week in North Park....
It rained heavily the night before, but this morning was on the cooler (and drier side). Holsem is on the south side of the North Park sign, next to the bus stop and a beauty supply store.
For a more clearer photo of the menu, you can check on the four lettered site, but this is just an overview. Apparently they will be serving booze (craft beers) soon. As you can see, this place likens itself to a coffee parlour. When you walk in, it has that kind of a feel. There are original Eames chairs in there as well for the interior design nuts. Lots of marble and cool zig zagged tile backsplashes behind the counter. The owner is the same one who started Roach Coast. Articles will be linked at the end of this post...
As good as these baked goods and pastries looked (they are from downtown's Bake Sale), I had to forgo them since I'd already eaten breakfast. It was just coffee for me. Plus I had to save my appetite for lunch with Kirbie later that day.
The interior is beautiful and clean looking. While waiting for my drink, I took one of the last seat against the wall next to a rather taciturn man who barely grunted a word to me when I asked if the seat was taken.

This was pretty strong and I ended up adding more cream and sugar to this!
Folks here were very very nice. I recognized the owner from articles I'd read. I ended up buying a few 1 oz coffee samples ($1 each) for ourselves and as a gift. The place was pretty busy and on my way out, I bumped into an acquaintance who had just gotten back from a three month stint in India to learn yoga.
