Siam Nara

Before I forget these neglected draft posts, here is my recap of lunch with Kirbie last month over in Manila Mesa

at a Thai place I hadn't tried yet...

which is in the same strip mall as Seafood City and Pho Ban Mai

As I waited for Kirbie to arrive, I marveled at the sheer amount of gold decor as well as the festive parasols and streamers....

We decided to try a few of their signature dishes such as the Ko Moo Yang (marinated grilled pork shoulder), E-San sausage and Som Tom salad with salted crab.

Of the three dishes, I liked the papaya salad the best; it was crunchy and had lots of great flavor and texture. The salted crab didn't add too much unless you picked one up and sucked the juices. Not very ladylike, ha ha.  The pork shoulder was all right and the sausage? Well, now that I've been ruined forever by Supanee's version, any other after that is just plain old boring.

The sauces this meat came with were so delicious though (one was spicy; the other was sweet). I ended up picking the pieces that had more fat in it.

Kirbie was generous enough to utilize a coupon deal she had for our meal (thanks!).  The service here was attentive. It was kind of dark where they sat us, hence the use of crappy flash for my photos.

Who else went to Siam Nara?
Two of my friends went here when it first opened in 2011 -  Kirk and Kirbie. In fact here is her more recent post on our lunch that day (better photos I must say!).

Dessert would be nearby a strip mall over, so off we went to satisfy our sweets cravings...

I've been here a few times for lunch! It's not too bad but I also don't think it's mind blowing, haha. Nice you guys had a coupon for this place! I'm always in awe of how pretty it is inside the restaurant - looks super fancy but without the extra high prices.

I have only been here once and it was all right. My fave Thai places would be Supannee in Point Loma and Sab e Lee.
