It's right up the street from K Sandwiches and Sushi Diner, in the same strip mall that has Homestyle Hawaiian...
Parking here is much better than their Kearny Mesa location. This place is also in a prime spot, being right next to Kearny High School. The kids at Kearny have a lot of great afterschool food options - K, Mien Trung, Rose Donuts, Pho Pasteur, Sushi Diner and now Up2You. If I knew how to insert the "umlaut" over the "u" I would have done it, ha ha.

They have a nice menu board and they were already decorated for Christmas time (a tree, some lights, wreathes, etc). TC just wanted a scoop of ice cream while I had the affogato with coffee ice cream.

It was nice since it wasn't crowded at all. This was a Monday afternoon...

I thought that the ice cream presentation was unintentionally hilarious. Hmmmm...a bit phallic there, eh? My affogato was all right, but not as good as Caffe Calabria's.

Pros about this place - it's bigger and it has more parking than their first location. Service (at least during our visit during the non-busy hours) was pretty quick.
Cons - the insipid bossa nova bastardized remakes of songs sung by a breathy voiced chick with a slight accent...
That being said, the music alone wouldn't stop me from going here (case in point, Sushi Diner next door with their reggae). The kids who work here (yes, I say kids because I'm old enough to be their parent, these must be older teens or college age kids) are quite friendly and patient. The gal helping us that day had cute winged eyeliner (I swear, I've been doing this look for at least two decades and it's like the young girls nowadays are discovering it, haha) and some major false lashes (she was a cute Asian gal)...Even TC rocks the winged eyeliner occasionally. It's so interesting also to see the fashions of the 90's (not my favorite decade, sorry to say; it's the 80's all the way for me!) coming back as well, such as high waisted pants, floral and tribal prints, and boxy cut sweaters and shirts. Everything old is new again, I suppose. Yikes, did I just show my age? Haha....
Anyhow...we had to hurry back home. My friend MJ would be coming over later to give us some eagerly awaited treats from b patisserie...

This place has been on my radar for a while. I have a friend who loves to go here. I LOLed at the phallic presentation, too, so I'm glad you brought it up! Maybe I will venture over that way and find an excuse for some ice cream. ;)
Hi Lolo, hopefully you can try it out sometime. :) we normally like getting the brick toast but weren't feeling it that day. the ice cream was my daughter's and we were both laughing about it.
Okay, I totally laughed at the presentation, too, before I read the rest of your post. Heehee.
I thought when I saw it, Really?
