The new Leap Coffee at the Shoppes at Carlsbad

After our hearty breakfasts at Tip Top Meats,

we three along with Tatonka  headed up to a new coffee shop in these here parts...

This is the second location of Leap Coffee; the other is in a business park (which Superman has been to).  It's located in the backside of a mall and is in between Luna Grill and Panera.

As I always say, the menu was simple, as it should be.

It's very spacious with lots of light. The workers were very friendly which I appreciated. Something as simple as a smile and a greeting makes a big difference.  When we were at the West Bean in Bankers Hill the other day, the lady working there didn't even look up when we were at the counter and acted like it was a pain to even talk to us or help us. Fkg bitch to the max!!! But not here, these dudes were really mellow. I like that.

You already know what Bert got.  As for me, I originally wanted a cortado but they saw the Gingerbread latte and then, on a whim, ordered the Bee Sting as well. Hey, we're not going to be up in these here parts again, so that's my justification.

True to form, Tatonka came through, ha ha.  He slipped this in while I was taking a shot of Bert's peppermint mocha. Two were ordered for the men. This was the first drink to come out. Tatonka mocked Bert's slow walk to our table. He was trying not to spill the drink (there was a tiny bit of spillage which I wiped out).  When Tatonka's drink came out, he got it and was able to walk at a faster pace than Bert (he does have a bit of a bum knee).  He credited this to his marching band experience, ha ha.

TC has a thing for kombucha; this was watermelon. This vile concoction may look pretty but the smell of it made me gag. I can't even take a sip of this shite.  But yes, it's supposed to be good for your gut, blah blah, but I'm not a fan.

It's the return of the Gingerbread latte, the Leap Coffee version. This was one of the nicest and smoothest drinks I've had. It was not overly sweet like a version I had at S3 (the Nutcracker latte).

This was the bee sting, which is basically a cortado but with half and half and honey added. Another unique drink I haven't seen elsewhere.  If they really want to step it up, the should garnish this with bee pollen (S3's beehive did just that; I haven't posted that yet but will link it once I do as well as Ukiah's Black Oak Roasters' version, the "Lover's Latte" back in 2015).  This was like a sweeter cortado. I was already thinking about the havoc from the real milk in this drink.

The whole spread - Five drinks, four people.

Not sure when we'll be up here again, but if we are, I would go to both locations for sure.
