where this was awaiting us...
a trio of flans made by a former PASACAT dancer turned trained chef (both culinary and pastry). Her company is called Sulit Delectables ("Sulit" means "Worth it"). This trio consists of regular flan (vanilla), ube and buko pandan.

While us gals were out "gallivanting", Bert carefully plated the flans on our three tiered server which hasn't seen action in probably more than a decade. I honestly haven't used that in years, ha ha.
KD had mentioned before that it would be cool for me to use all of the vintage snack sets I've collected this past year or so as well as the Christmas holly tea set. I agreed and thought, "Why not"...so there you have it. Flan trio with assorted Japanese cookies, Taiwanese pineapple cake, out of season (heh) strawberries and assorted biscotti from Bread & Cie. Bert even found our capiz placemats in our upper pantry while looking for something else.

The blue pot had Earl Gray tea; the purple pot had the strawberry tea I bought earlier that afternoon during our brief hopping excursion in Fashion Valley. The new T2Tea store has replaced Teavana.

The purple floral printed kidney shaped plates with matching cups were bought for $2.99 each at the DAV Thrift store a few years ago. I have more random sets with different patterns and will have to use those for another occasion. The cups hold only 4 oz.
Of the three flans, I liked the ube the best followed by the plain one. I am not much into the buko pandan flavor. The young chef charged $25 for 3 (otherwise it would have been $10 for just one). It was better to try all of them!
It was so nice and relaxing not having to worry about running a meter and just staying at my house. I've been friends with these gals for so long (the longest with TORC, since '93) and any occasion with them is always a special one. We've all gone through so much together and we could have been eating chips and dips instead of having tea and we still would have had a great time.
