I met up with my childhood friend, the always so fun Astroboi...
and this time, TC was with us! We planned to have Japanese breakfast at Hinotez for a change (his choice) and were here bright and early. Their website still said 8 am on weekdays. The sign on the door said otherwise. In fact, the time had changed as of the new year so we had to kill some time until 9 am, which we did at Ranch 99 down the street.

Reading this menu was like taking a test:

Our waitress was so cute. We had a booth by a window and figured out what we wanted.

Both TC and her Uncle Astroboi got green tea which was hot AF! Just water for me.

They both had miso soup with their orders. I upgraded to the udon which was delicious.

Our Japanese breakfast trio

Astroboi's Bento A with shrimp tempura and grilled salmon:

TC's Bento B with fried chicken and assorted sashimi:

My Bento A with fried chicken and potato croquette:

Plus added pork cutlet to share:

All of the bentos came with salad, shredded cabbage and a shitload of rice which I didn't eat too much of. We all enjoyed our breakfast here. It was like eating lunch for breakfast. Very hearty. None of us got any toppings or appetizers here, just the main items plus my add ons and udon soup.
Here is an old post of mine from when Hinotez used to be Honey's Cafe back in Nov 2010. Astroboi remembers that this used to be the Broken Yolk even before that.
Who else went to Hinotez?
Kirk has been many times. Here is his most recent post along with another recent lunch post from Sept. 2018 and his revists from 2014 (where he tries the curry rice), 2015, 2016, and 2017 (there's more posts, but you can use his search bar for more if you feel the need)
TC already wants to do a revisit with Bert, which I'm sure he won't mind. There's lots more on their menu that we would want to try.

Let's see A + A = (A + B) - 1 = (B + B) - 2....ummm....math was never my strong point CC! Glad you enjoyed Hinotez. I'm hoping you get to try a awesome Japanese breakfast in Japan one day soon.
Ha ha! Still need to do a revisit and yes, Japan is one of our bucket list places Kirk!
