where we were gifted with cake pops from the nice lady at Mexico Lindo...
Neither Mary nor Lynn had been to ML bakery; I believe Mary had been to La Concha before (correct me if I'm wrong). Since it was rosca season, I wanted them to experience it at two different bakeries. I don't have pix of Mexico Lindo since you can see my previous post with Cathy. Their bakery is not like a traditional Mexican panaderia, but more like a bakery that does serve Mexican influenced items.
La Concha on the other hand, is a traditional panaderia, serving Mexican breads and pastries with some rotating on a daily basis.

Roscas on display:

We had samples of rosca at ML bakery, but not at La Concha. I also wanted Lynn to see how it was carrying your own tray and tongs and picking out the breads/pastries you wanted at La Concha. There's always a first for everything.
Our last stop of this food crawl was over in Chollas View in SE San Diego at Lannboon Asia Cafe. Yes, it says Thai Cafe on here but they also serve Lao food.

The nice man who is always there from my last visits was of course there today.

Condiments - crushed red pepper, a chili garlic sauce and another hot sauce in the back:

We shared three items between us and ordered sticky rice to go with one of the entrees. Below - nam khao (crispy fried rice ball salad with peanuts, cilantro, green onions, fermented pork and lettude leaves, along with Lao sausage and Thai style papaya salad.

Nam Khao is not on the menu but an item listed on a chalkboard on the wall.

Thai style papaya salad had a light citrus fish sauce (Lao style would have been darker and funkier):

The sausage here had a kick. I liked that they included slivers of fresh sliced ginger (there's some hiding under the lettuce) along with the peanuts.

Housemade:

This was the first time I've seen sticky rice in a ziplock bag inside the basket. Hmm...

The food was delicious and even better with great company.
Previous visit to Mexico Lindo:
My recent visit with Cathy the other day, January 2019
I've been to La Concha so many times but don't really post since I usually get the same thing - chorizo in a torta and beef and chicken empanadas. No link.
Previous visit to Lannboon Asia Cafe:
October 2018
This was a short crawl this time since we had other things happening later that day. Here is our first stop:

Here's to more food adventures in 2019!
