2017 has come and gone...
Last night's non alcoholic libations and dessert...

Plus a break from our normal tradition of having Filipino food for New Year's Eve dinner. Instead of making Adobong manok (chicken adobo) or chicken arroz caldo (rice porridge) and even palitaw (a boiled rice dough dessert covered with sugar and shredded coconut), Bert wanted to change it up.

Therefore, salad, spaghetti with vegetable sauce (plus ground turkey on the side), garlic sourdough bread and sliced almond Kringle. The two round fruits (instead of the traditional twelve; however I've never bought that many types in the past anyways) were Halos and red grapes. Having round fruits symbolizes prosperity and abundance. The roundness is also likened to "coins" or money.
Today, Bert and I were on our own that morning while TC made plans to meet up with a friend.
These were the highlights - This former encased sausage emporium in Hillcrest was now a new donut and coffee place (full post to follow).

Caffeine drink #2 was acquired later at another spot in the Morena District since the previous coffee was not that great and also because my original choice for #2 was closed (dammit Modern Times).

I had to see for myself...

Only a few more days, yo'!
Since we were in the same parking lot as K Sandwiches, we stopped by this spot for a quick bite. The least time we were here were pre-blogging days (pre 2006)!

And earlier that morning...as we drove through some side streets to get to the closed coffee spot, I snapped this photo with the intent of getting the Deja Vu truck. I didn't realize that the sign's sentiment behind it was fitting for this very day...

I'm glad that the 'e' and 'j' covered her...well...
Hmmm, this is not the nicest photo to bring in the New Year but it definitely is unintentionally cringe worthy.
Hope the start of this new year is auspicious for you all! Thank you for sticking around and Best Wishes for a great New Year!
