Bert took TC out to a new eatery in an older stripmall on Bonita Road..
Franco's Flapjack Family Restaurant used to be House of Nine Dragons, which had been there for the longest time.

However, House of 9 Dragons later became the short lived Wing Star which opened July 2015 and closed exactly one year later. No photos of the signage. Even yelp doesn't have photos of their sign. WTH man I think that's one of the most important things. I like to know what I'm looking for. In this case, we never even tried Wing Star and then it was gone.
It was a rainy day during Bert and TC's visit. The restaurant wasn't that crowded yet. According to Bert, the crowd was relatively diverse in ethnicity and age with regulars and newcomers alike.
There is another location in Alpine. I hadn't even heard of Franco's until they came to Bonita. Bert and TC were curious to give them a try. Their menu is your standard American breakfast fare with some Mexican offerings as well. It was also on the pricier side, with most breakfast being $10 or more.
Normal coffee.
Bert's corned beef hash, eggs, potatoes and biscuit, which he said was dry and crumbly. Sad face. Even the butter didn't help.
The corned beef hash had a nice crust, but only on one side. It was like they didn't flip it over in the pan or didn't crisp the other side the same way.
TC's pancake, hash browns, and eggs with avocado.
They both enjoyed their breakfast, calling it "satisfying" but it "could be better" . Bert thought it was ok but didn't think it was OMG-this-is-so-good-I-have-to-come-back-good.
TC on the other hand, returned recently with a couple of friends. Her best friend Sherlock turned 17 and invited her and another close friend to celebrate her birthday with breakfast at Franco's. It's cool that these three have been friends since middle school. Bert and I have known Sherlock's mom since high school and the other friend's dad since junior high. It's neat that our kids are friends..
Anyhow, TC took a few photos of that breakfast outing for me.
Above, male friend's chicken fried steak with eggs and potatoes. Looks like they drowned that chicken with a lot of gravy. There appeared to be sausage bits in the gravy which looks promising, but if I ever go here and order that CFS, I want to make sure they put that gravy on the side. Mushy food = barf. Sherlock's plate, which is obscured, was a Belgian waffle.
TC's breakfast - almost a repeat of Bert's. Hopefully her corned beef hash was more evenly browned. She said the restaurant was super crowded earlier this morning and that there were some screaming brat kids. Lovely.
I don't know about you but three eggs is a lot! Most breakfast places we go to usually do two. Cholesterol city. Not to worry, she brought home leftovers to be eaten the next day.

There is no website and their fb page has the Alpine address (although I spotted someone I know in their 'visitor posts' section. One of these days I may just give it a try since I have an online coupon.
