Breakfast before the long drive back was here, at Andy's Coffee Shop.
Located on Historic Route 66, the restaurant is also a prime spot to view the tail end of the Tournament of Roses Parade...

We got there right when they opened, 7 am. We were greeted warmly and told we could sit wherever we wanted, so I chose the front window. Our server, Marco was a really friendly and nice guy who told us stories behind some of the celebrity photos on the walls. The diner has that retro look and feel and has been used in movies and tv shows.
Towards the back there are large framed photos of all of the people watching the Rose Parade (Cathy has a better shot in her post linked at the end).
It was really cool seeing all of the memorabilia on their walls.

"Mad Men" utilized the restaurant for several episodes.
Steve O. from "Jackass" is a frequent visitor.

This was the spot where Cathy and her Mister sat for their last visit, which was for lunch and was crowded.
Marco gave us a card for another restaurant that he also works at (sometimes he cooks at Andy's when he is not serving. His dream is to return to his native Mexico (he is from Sinaloa) and open up his own fusion restaurant. Andy's is family run and owned; their staff is really friendly. It was a treat having breakfast and chatting with Marco whenever he came to check up on us.

Bert's pancake, eggs and sausage breakfast. Look at those links. We loved how substantial they were and that they were scored. You don't see that too often. As for my breakfast, I got the bacon, egg and lettuce sandwich plus a side of hashbrowns, which had a lovely crisp exterior. The pancakes were pretty thick but fluffy with nicely rounded edges. Bert thought they used a mold but I think they free pour it.
Mmm, carbs.
We were given some of their house made salsa, which wasn't too spicy. We could taste the roasted peppers in there which gave it a smoky savoriness.
We'll definitely come back with TC next time we're here.
The food is filling and well made comfort food (American). It wasn't greasy (if you're thinking this is a greasy spoon), at least what we had wasn't. Plus, our server Marco was super cool.

As mentioned earlier, we will return for a future trip with TC...I can't believe that her junior year is going to be over soon. I will soon have a senior in the house (sniff sniff).
