Day 1 - LA Road Trip 2016: The Little Tree Church, Tustin

Normally when we do roadtrips, we make our usual stop at the Starbucks in Tustin (Bert has to have his macchiato from there) as well as Cream Pan and THH Sandwiches.

This time, we skipped out on Cream Pan but instead, went north one block of Cream Pan at this strip mall, Jamestown Village...

for in this very parking lot amidst a variety of businesses in the brick faced mall is a tiny church!

Yes, this small religious structure is right there in the parking lot.

The church was built by C.T. Gilbreath, one of Tustin's early developers and builders. It was modeled after The Hopewell Church in Tennessee because reminded him of his childhood. The article linked at the end doesn't include a date of publication but notes that the church has been  here for the past forty plus years (at least since the late 1960's).

The church wasn't open during our quick stop though. It would have been cool to step inside. There are some links at the end of this post which do show interior shots though.

The south facing wall of the church.

The back of the church looks like it needs to be fixed.

As we were leaving, I noticed the lighthouse shaped column. Odd that.

Well, seeing this church was pretty random and to think it's been there for more than four decades.

Just for fun, here is my past post on an even smaller church that we visited during our Canada trip in 2010: "The Wayside Chapel"  (posted in 2011 since I took my time, ha ha).

We can't forget Mary's fun post "Cracker Barrel and tiny church in Yuma, AZ" (May 2015). That church was pretty small as well! It makes the one in Tustin look huge in comparison.

After our photo taking, we were Los Angeles bound!
