I thought Bert would like to try the coffee over at Heartworm, I mean Heartwork...
There wasn't a long line during our visit...

Bert tried the Brazilian coffee for his pourover. Did you see the first on? Fruit punch flavored coffee? Hmmm.

I was finally able to take a photo of their counter unencumbered. There is pretty gold lettering featuring a Smiths lyric (and song title), "Please please please let me get what I want"....

The guys who work here are SUPER NICE. They are NOT A-holes at all. Bert's pourover and my cold brew...No ceramic mug since we took these to go...

Simple syrup is so much better than granulated sugar which sometimes doesn't dissolve (because I probably put too much in my coffee...oversaturation, heh heh).
The coffee shop may not be huge, but they have a simple but effective menu. I'd pass on their vegan donuts though. Plus, if you need to use the facilities, they have a clean bathroom.
Now here's the obligatory music reference, featuring The Smiths live, August 28, 1986, Laguna Hills Ampitheater (holy $%#@, I was still in high school!!!!):
A recent version with ex-Smiths frontman, Morrissey, live at the Hollywood Bowl in 2011 (he changes the words slightly in this version):
"For once in my life, let me have who I want..."
There is an instrumental cover version by The Dream Academy, which was prominently featured in the museum sequence in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" where Ferris, Cameron and Sloan wander through the Art Institute of Chicago:
And if I hadn't already beaten a dead horse, a more recent version (2013) with ex-Smiths guitarist extraordinaire Johnny Marr singing lead vocal:
I thought he did a pretty good rendition of the song...
Previous visit to Heartwork:
January 2015
There is one more coffee place in Mission Hills to try out, but that will have to wait for another time...

Simply syrup! Man, what a nice touch. I love it when places pay attention to those small details.
Blush also had simple syrup for their iced coffee. I wish more places offered simple syrup.
