I agreed to do it and was off to the IHOP in National City to do my spiel...
Lunch seemed like eons ago and it was already dark outside. I thought, why not have breakfast for dinner, especially when I saw this new item on their menu.

I paired up my Blackberry Lemonade Criss-Croisant with the bacon and egg combo. Below was my friend's Crepe with a chicken Florentine filling and some sort of sauce on top (Hollandaise, maybe?).

I liked that the plate came with four sausages, not a measly two. I just wished the hash browns were crispier; these were soft and kind of baby-food like. The Criss-Croissant was topped with whipped cream (which I removed) and filled with a light lemon custard. I liked the waffle croissant hybrid and ate the dry edges first. I liked the flavors but the sauces were just "too much" for me since I don't like my food to be that "wet". Despite that, it was worth giving it a shot. A pleasant upside to this was that my meal was comped by my friend's organization. This was a nice gesture which I appreciated.

The sauce sure looked pretty and for the most part looked just like the photo on the menu, but wetter and more artistic. I was able to finish the waffle itself but the breakfast was saved for the next day since it was getting late and I needed to get back home.

This IHOP is in the same strip mall as Seafood City, Big Lots and Joann Fabrics. The parking sucks here (thanks to Seafood City) but in the early evening, it wasn't so bad.

The last time I ate at IHOP was about six years ago (Eastlake location). Until recently, we hardly ever went out for breakfast, but with TC having morning activities on certain weekend, Bert and I started exploring more breakfast spots around San Diego. As for this IHOP, at least it wasn't crazy crowded that evening I went. The server was pretty efficient but the food came out at a wierd pace (my waffles came maybe 6-10 minutes after my breakfast combo).
This being said, I hope her organization makes either a group or individual contributions to the scholarship. I already sent out my "begging" texts/emails/letters and it seems a few have responded with monetary pledges, so yay.
