Granny's Kitchen = Fail + return to the Julian Cider Mill

It's the return of the Julian posts...

I figure I should tie up loose ends before I end up forgetting about it. After starting off our day trying some Ass Kickin' Beef Jerky at Pam's Place, we found a parking spot a few blocks up a hill on Main. There was a breakfast place we were curious about...

Despite the warnings that the food in Julian sucked (the food, not the pies), we took our chances and ended up regretting it. I had an older magazine that had an ad from Granny's Kitchen as the "Home of the Apple Fries". Fries, eh? Well, that was new.  Turns out that since the magazine was a year old, they no longer served Apple Fries here.

We thought we would stay anyways and it turned out to be a nearly one hour wait.  To be honest, I actually left in anger and told Bert and TC I would be walking over to another place to get breakfast. Yeah, I was that PO'd.

I remember reading yelp reviews about the horrendous wait times. I didn't think it would be that baad. Bert ordered inside (we were just planning to share ONE breakfast) while TC and I waited in their outdoor seating area where the two resident dogs wandered among the customers. One of them could smell the beef jerky from my bag and was trying to get to it.

The dogs...

After half an hour, Bert went in to chck on our order. They said "it was coming" but there were orders ahead of us. They must have had only ONE person working the kitchen or something. It wasn't even crowded inside according to Bert.  A warning to anyone who tries to eat here....

Don't.  It's not worth the wait. I didn't wait.   I hardly ever do this. Just getting up and leaving but I was frustrated.

Here is the damn $#%@ breakfast that Bert and TC had, served after a one hour wait.  Scrambled eggs, sausage and toast. Really?

While they were waiting for their breakfast, I walked down Main to get to the Candied Apple Pastry Company (post is forthcoming)...

These few shots were snapped by me, but the drinks were what Bert and TC had while en route to meet met at the Candied Apple Pastry place...

Hot apple cider - whipped cream on top for TC and just plain for Bert.

It was good we got there early that morning. It was the calm before the hordes of people arrived.

There is no website but here is the mixed bag 'o reviews from you know where

Previous visit to the Julian Cider Mill:
November 2013

I didn't partake of any cider this time. I'm not a fan of hot drinks. We bought some cold cider later on over near Dudley's.  My next stop was a much better meal with a much faster wait time just a few minutes away...

Ugh, super lame... waiting an hour for the simplest of breakfasts! I always skip the food in Julian and just go for the pie.
