The reason we went was because of this...

a brand new crepes place on the west side of Plaza Bonita...
right next to a restaurant you couldn't pay me to eat at, Applebee's. Sorry, me no like.
I saw that there was a new dessert place nearby on yelp and wanted to give this place a try. As you can see, it's not a brick and mortar place but a mobile crepe stand with a few tables nearby for customers to enjoy their drinks and pastries. Bert and I already had our morning coffee at WestBean but were curious about trying a savory crepe here and decided on a crepe that had salami, ham and Monterey Jack cheese. The young man working the stand turned out to be the owner, Eduardo. He was super nice and very friendly. He said they opened about three months ago and were doing okay in this location so far.

Their pastries are from Costco (individually wrapped Madeleine cookies, assoted bagels, muffins, cookies, and such; nothing I'd really get) and their coffee is from Cafe Moto (based in Barrio Logan, so yay, something local!).

He served us the crepe with a sad looking basil leaf and a small smear of raspberry chipotle sauce. The leaf, we could have done without especialy since it was torn and kind of old looking. Boo for that. The sauce was pretty good and we wished there was more of it on the plate but didn't think to ask for more at the time. It had a tiny bit of a kick which we liked.

The crepe was delicious - a mix of creamy cheese and salty meats within. I'd get this again over their other savory crepe offerings. As for our drink, we shared an iced mocha which was just 'all right'. It's not the same as having it at Cafe Moto itself.

They're open until 9 pm which surprised us. I hope this young man does well with his venture. He was pretty enthusiastic when we were chatting and says he will be offering more savory crepe choices in the near future.
La Crepe de Bretagne (kiosk near Applebee's at Plaza Bonita mall)

It was worth going at least once. If Bert and I feel inclined, we may just use the postcard coupon above for a future visit...

The crepe does look nice and cheesy but yeah, that poor little leaf does look pretty sad and wilted. I'm surprised they didn't drizzle the sauce over it, but maybe he was playing it safe by putting a small bit on the side.
You're right, maybe he was trying to be conservative with that sauce.
