which is La Nueva Bakery, located in this strip mall. Look at the top of the sign. Yes, it is non tampered sign with KD's Donuts (as opposed to D's Nuts)....
This business area is located on the corner of 47th and Market and has pretty tight and crappy parking. I wanted to see if the bakery had those meat filled pastries I wanted last year....

Unfortunately they did not, nor did they have any pan de muerto. Last year they had these flaky meat filled pastries which they no longer carry.
The three pastries I bought that morning - The first two were a gift for Cathy - a cream cheese filled pastry and a raisin/cheese bun with a pretty fluted cup liner, plus a pineapple filled pastry for me and Bert.

Looks like they changed their business card from before (as seen in the previous post linked at the end). They now have more photos but the card is still orange.

I liked the tender yet flaky crust. The pineapple filling was a bit on the too sweet side...

Leaving the cramped parking lot, I could see that no one was there yet in the corner lot that has Asia Cafe and Muang Lao Market...

There was a lot with parked food trucks...

Some of the trucks I spotted were the ubiquitous Moody's, plus one that said "Curry" something or other as well as the Puesto truck. I don't know about you but I really hate the system that food trucks that have to announce where they are every damn day, which is Twitter. Maybe it's because I don't have a Twitter account and don't want to have to "search" for a particular truck for each day of the week. If I want to eat something, I don't want to hunt it down. I don't particularly like paying a lot for food and not have any place to sit as well. {Pulls hair and stamps feet in frustration}
Previous visit to La Nueva Bakery:
December 2013
Although they didn't have what I was looking for, I still am glad I visited. I've come a long way from my early panaderia-disliking days. I know what to look for and what I like nowadays.
With the pan dulces in tow, I headed up north to meet up with Cathy in Kearny Mesa...

The crust on the cream cheese filled one was very, very nice...like a fancy Danish. The raisin cake was the *best* thing I've had in a long time. Thanks. We need to get back to Asia Cafe soon...
So glad that you liked both of the pastries. Now I know what to try for myself next time I visit and hopefully it won't take me a year!
Yes, Asia Cafe. Just say when and I'm there!
