Believe it or not, I've never been to a Panera...
and neither has Bert. We have nothing against it, but figured we would give it a try since it was right across the street from the Lyceum. It looks like they were setting up the makeshift ice rink near the NBC news studio, with the raised platform and all. It's not even Halloween yet and they are doing that? Hmmm, unless it's for something else.

The view from our table outside...

Turkey avo for Bert and turkey cranberry flatbread for me. Both came with chips. I declined my pickle.

The cranberry was like a watery jelly which I didn't expect. I thought maybe I would have craisins inside or something. The bread was too thick for my liking and I ended up eating the filling more than the bread. I liked Bert's sandwich more than mine, but I was hungry but didn't want to eat anything too heavy. Before we left, Bert ordered his same sandwich for TC to eat during the break in dress rehearsal. She ended up really enjoying it.
Another evening we were downtown for dress rehearsal, we bought TC's dinner at a nearby deli that we stumbled upon. It's right next to Chopahn, an Afghani restaurant (one that we haven't tried yet). I didn't take too many photos in here. It's a long, narrow space and the deli is in the back. We opted to get a sandwich freshly made; it was $4.99 compared to the refrigerated premade sandwiches in their case for $5 to 6.99. The sandwich we got for TC was quite a hefty one, roasted chicken with avocado. I didn't take any photos of it because it was already wrapped up, so just picture it in your mind, eh.

The gal working the deli counter was really nice and friendly...

It smelled so good in here. We'd already eaten though and were going to go get dessert right after this...

The next day, Bert and I killed time by walking around near Horton Plaza. Before heading back to the theatre, we grabbed a couple of drinks from the Starbucks in Horton Plaza. There were at least three or four people who ordered the popular seasonal drink, the (dreaded to me), Pumpkin Spice Latte. Ugh! Give me my iced mocha any time. As for Bert, he had some sort of caramel hot coffee drink.

I gave the girl a fake name (not shown); I nearly always do since my real name gets mangled so much. I know that some of you also have "Starbucks" pseudonyms!
For a really funny anti-pumpkin post, please check out Darlene's latest:

Although we have a Panera in Otay Ranch, I've never gone and I think I will just chalk up this visit to my first and last. On the other hand, Bert and I would definitely give the Hub a try since TC liked her sandwich so much, we'd like to try it ourselves.
