with neighbor Trident Coffee open a little more than a month earlier...

We thought we would pay Bikeway Village development a visit...
After having enjoyed our cold brew flights from Trident, we took a short walk to explore the ground. We hadn't walked farther west so this time we did, where we saw a cool art installation with a nautilus shape. This was dedicated to two young boys who were victims of a tragic crime in 1993 (more info later in the post).

The skies were quite dramatic that morning. Rain would be in the forecast this coming week.

Nearby there was a memorial rock. This portion of the park, I found out later was named after the two boys named on the rock.

Upon closer inspection, I caught my breath. I remembered this tragic event. The two boys were local to my old neighborhood and I remember the media descending upon the local school where they went as it was near my parents' home. The story was in the news for months. The boys had gone biking and enjoyed lunch at the nearby Rally's on Palm. They were last seen at Southland Plaza which hugs the Otay River bed where they were lured, abducted, tortured, molested and slain. Over twenty years later, justice was served when the killer was sentenced to death row.

These were the views that greeted us Sunday morning.

Although there were no longer yellow wildflowers in full bloom like earlier this year, the landscaping still looked beautiful. Come spring, it will come alive once again.

In the distance, the Otay River and Mount Miguel.

You can sort of make out the salt piles in far off Chula Vista.
There are a couple of viewing telescopes in this area. You can really see the details, as far off as downtown San Diego, the shipyards by the Bay and Coronado.

One of these days we will bike this pathway...

Near the red bridge:

Nights are getting chillier in San Diego...our seasons may not be drastically different but I can feel it in the air...
Guest photo time - Later that evening, One sent us this photo. He and his wife had just enjoyed dinner and drinks at Coronado Brewing Co., near the IB Pier.

Lovely end to the weekend!
