but I at least had a few good lunches spent with friends...
Last Thursday, I met up with my friend Mary from This Tasty Life. Since she works up in the Mira Mesa area, she selected our lunch destination, which was Curry 'n Kabab. It's in the huge strip mall that has Miramar Cash 'n Caryy. Curry 'n Kabab replaced a Mexican eatery.

There are cool Indian movie posters on the walls. One of them was titled, "The 3 Idiots" (the one in yellow). So we got there at 11:30 and literally within 5 minutes, the damn place had a line out the door!

We both got the lunch specials and due to a misunderstanding on my part (wasn't sure what I was being asked by the worker), ended up with two chicken entrees and not the curry side dishes, dammit).
First up, soup which I think may have been yellow lentil soup. I could taste the cardamom in there. Not bad. It was a little on the thin side, but was a nice prelude to our lunch.

Mary ordered vegetable samosas to share. These were pretty big and served with a mint and tamarind dipping sauce. The filling was spiced mashed potatoes and peas.

Our naan (kind of burnt, poo).

Our lunch specials ($8.99 each/a good deal actually) were served on these humongous plates!

My double chicken vindaloo. The lunch special is supposed to have soup, naan, one meat or vegetarian choice + one curry side). I wasn't asked what side I wanted. He asked if I only wanted one entree I said 'yes' but didn't realize that my answer was interpreted as having only ONE entree and NO side, so the meat was doubled. It was too late to change it but the good thing was, it as a lot of food and I saved the other portion for TC.

Mary's lunch - chicken korma and some sort of curry with potatoes (which was pretty tasty). Their portions were pretty generous. See all that rice? Necessary, ha ha. The lovely sauces go so well with it.

Who else has eaten here?
Mary posted on this place back in April 2018 (will link her post of this visit once it goes up)

It was nice catching up with Mary whom I hadn't seen in awhile. I was lamenting the fact that the South Bay didn't have any Indian restaurants at all. Lo and behold, a few days later, I saw that a new Indian/Himalayan restaurant had opened up on the west side of Chula Vista! I'll have to make my way there soon!

I'm sorry you didn't get quite what you wanted but I'm glad you were able to come visit me and check this place out!! I really like their chicken korma A LOT. I tried to try something new but hey... they decided I shouldn't, I guess. I want to try the paneer next time, hopefully they will actually give that to me instead of chicken tikka haha.
No worries. I know better for next time.
