we hit up our first photo stop this fanciful topiary garden...
in Mission Hills; he hadn't been and wanted to see it while we did a mini coffee crawl before lunch.

It was cool looking at the different shapes and trying to figure out what was what.
As is required during our outings, we took the "scenic route", which meant surface streets galore. I learn so much about San Diego neighborhoods whenever Astroboi is driving. Although he didn't get any coffee here, I wanted him to bask in the glory of the pixelated Post-It wall of The King of Pop and Bubbles while I enjoyed my cortado...

I wished I had the stomach for this, the Tiramisu slushie. It looked and sounded so good but it was way too early in the morning to be having a dessert like this. OMG.

While it looked cute, I wasn't a fan of the glass because it was really too hot to hold at first. They should use a double walled glass for this.
Previous visit to Harper's Topiary Garden
April 2018 during my birthday crawl a few months ago
Previous visit to Modern Times Cafe:
January 2017 for KD's birthday crawl, which also includes my first visit post
As we were driving through Hancock Street, I noticed the big old Trump sign on the roof was gone at the Hancock St. Cafe There was also a sign, "Under new Management".

Later on, we spotted a cool mural on one of the newer condos in the East Village where we were headed next.

Our second coffee stop would end up being two instead of one!
