Earlier, Bert and I attended a charity event up north in Oceanside for my friend's husband. We ended up leaving the show early so we could have dinner.
It was around 8:30 by the time we arrived at Siam Nara in Mira Mesa. Bert hadn't been here and I was curious to give Siam Nara another try, having liked it from before.
I chose from the E-San Classic Set, getting the Kai Yang (fried chicken marinated with herbs) which came with papaya salad, sticky rice, and a wedge of salad. Bert ordered Cashew Shrimp (spicy level was 3). For starters, we got the Tod Mun Pla, red curry fish cakes. After having this before at Sab-e-Lee and Supannee House of Thai, I'm obsessed with trying other versions.

We really liked how flavorful these fish cakes were. The peanut topped cucumber relish with sweet and sour sauce was also delicious with the Tod Mun Plan.
Our dinner entrees (we would have tons of leftovers):

The set was $16 and could have easily fed two or three people. The chicken had a lovely aroma from the marinade/paste coating. The papaya salad was very mild and the sauces included a sweet and sour and a tamarind based sauce. I couldn't get enough of the sauce mopped up with bits of the sticky rice.

Bert's Cashew Shrimp was on the spicier side. There were a lot of large and plump shrimp in there. The vegetables were on the thick and chunky side though.

We were pretty hungry that evening but still had lots of leftovers.
Previous visit to Siam Nara:
May 2015 (with Kirbie)
We were originally going to have a super early dinner at the Cork & Craft but the timing wasn't right for us to make it on time to the Soul Fusion charity event at Mira Costa College. Not to worry since we went to Cork & Craft the next morning for brunch (that post is forthcoming)...

Ooh the fish cake looks good... and the set seems like a great deal! I still haven't been here yet - great reminder for me to go check it out soon :)
Hi Jinxi,
Yes, we really enjoyed the fish cake. The set was so much food. They had other good choices but I was feeling it for Thai bbq chicken that night. Siam Nara is also next to Pho Ban Mai, which is pretty good as well.
I liked Pho Ban Mai! Their bun bo hue was good when I tried it - great for a chilly day :)
Hi Jinxi,
Ooh, I have not tried their bun bo hue there. I'll have to give it a try next time I am up in the area. I like how Pho Ban Mai is next to Siam Nara as well as another VN sandwich shop. That whole strip mall has so many good places to go.
