I was so glad it was a Friday...
It was time to pay Hawthorn Coffee another visit.

This is what we came for. I saw a photo of their coffee flight on Instagram and wanted us to try it!

Their pourover menu:

Coffee flight - sparkling water, cold brew, brewed and espresso.

Of the three styles prepared, I liked the cold brew the best. Bert liked the regular brew. The espresso had a nice crema on top as well. It was nice to see a coffee flight offered. I wish more places would do this. It's fun to try a little bit of everything. It was also cool watching the baristas work on the separate drinks. The flavor was really smooth for all of the different preparations. The wooden holder for the drinks was also cool.
Parliament mocha with almond milk:

This time, it was my turn to try the Parliament mocha (named after the brand of chocolate they use, a company based in Redlands). I had the milk subbed with almond milk; the latte art was pretty. Real milk "stretches" more and it's harder for them to get the same effect and mouthfeel using milk substitutes but almond was just fine for me.

Good to the last drop.

Great architectural detail on this old building. The art deco embellishment matches the tile...

In honor of Foxy Coffee Roasters, here's a video by the 70's latin disco group Foxy with their one and only hit, "Get Off" from 1978:
OMG, after all these years, I always thought the group was BLACK! They are Cuban! I also realized that the lyrics are kind of...racy. Well, they are tame by today's standards, but it was pretty bold talking about "getting off" back then.
And in honor of Parliament, here is Parliament Funkadelic's classic, "Give up the Funk" (which kicks ass on the anemic version by pretty boy Latin rapper Gerardo/"Rico Suave", aka one hit wonder)
"Tear the roof off the sucker!"
George Clinton has got to be in his 70's and he's still wearing the multicolored dreadlocks! Good on him. He rocks the look.
Gerardo renamed it as "We Want the Funk". Anyone remember this dude?
Crickets.
Yeah, his fifteen seconds were done a LONG ASS time ago!
and speaking of Parliament, here's a clip from the movie "European Vacation".
Classic!
Previous visit to Hawthorn Coffee:
January 2016 - a few weeks ago!
The folks here are so nice. We were happy to have a seat with some breathing room. Our last visit had us in the front window. I hated the feeling of being watched, even though no one probably gave a second glance. It's that "animal in a zoo" feeling.
It was still pretty early (late afternoon'ish). Bert was hungry and just down the street was a meatball-centric eatery I hadn' been to in awhile. That was our next stop...
