Return to Olympic Cafe & Golden Donut

Earlier today I made good on my promise to take TC here...

Bert also accompanied us quite early to beat the rush...

The trio of entrees - TC had what I had last time, Fred's Egg Sandwich...

while Bert got the breakfast gyros with a side of hash browns...

Look at how stuffed that thing is. Too bad I don't like lamb (this was a mix of lamb and beef I believe) otherwise, I would have loved it. Bert thoroughly enjoyed his hearty breakfast as did TC.

Now THIS...

THIS was the PECAN WAFFLE.  I made the mistake of mistaking the Waffle Special (which comes with two sides included) and instead ordered the Pecan Waffle separately with two separate sides of sausage. Since Bert had the sausage side last week (it only had two to a plate), so I was surprised to see two plates with four pieces on them.  Bert and TC took a few pieces to help me out but I ended up bringing some home.

So...I ended up paying more for this because I had a brain fart. Next time, I'll have to remember not to do this, although I do love sausage, eight pieces is a bit too much to have at one sitting.

Holy &%$#K! Look at those crisp pecans embedded in the waffle which was so light and crisp. This was one of the best wafles I've ever had. I want it again. Or better yet, I want Bert to learn to make it (since he is breakfast master in our house) so we I can have it every weekend.

Yesssss....

We also went to Golden Donut to try their Vietnamese iced coffee. It's already pre-made and it's pretty strong by the way. The ladies who work here are so nice. When we were placing our order, one of them said that a new batch of apple fritters was almost done and would we want to wait for one?

We liked it so much, whad to get one of their toasted coconut donuts once again...

Our donut trio + the coffee:

TC's fritter freshly glazed right out of the fryer...

My chocolate glazed:

Bert's toasted coconut. Look at how fluffy it is inside. I like seeing air bubbles in the dough. Mine, not so much.

Toasted coconut was the winner!

Previous visit to Olympic Cafe & Golden Donut:
Breakfast joint + Donut shop - last week!

The waitress at Olympic Cafe is so nice; she even remembered us and our order from last week. I totally want to try the pecan pancakes next time and also have Bert try to recreate that pecan waffle at home. We just need a big circle waffle maker now.  Need, ha ha.

Mmmm, the pecan waffle looks SO GOOD! I love that the pecans are still crisp in there, too. I've had pecan pancakes before where the pecans weren't crispy and it seemed like such a waste. I'd probably also dig that gyro breakfast - I lubs lamb! Sounds like the perfect combo for Jake and I to share! Fresh crispy donuts are also always a winner.

Why yes indeed it does! I totally want that again. I may just have to convince Bert to make it for dinner this week. Yes, dinner! We don't have time in the morning to make something like this, ha ha.

I really can't get into the taste of lamb. It's so gamey and has a weird odor to it. I can't stomach the thought of even eating it. I hates lamb. :(
