TC and I had just finished our Indian food crawl when we got a text from Bert...
"Dad wants to know if we want to meet up with him and the guys at Filippi's"
We were about ready to head to the San Diego Serbian Festival. TC wanted to go so, so we did.

I haven't been back to the Mira Mesa Filippi's since pre-blogging days (pre-2006). I got lost trying to find it but I eventually did after a frantic call to Bert.
It's still exactly the same. And it was so dark inside, I had to use my flash. I didn't order anything but believe it or not, TC had a small child's plate of ravioli here.

It was nice seeing Screg again. It was also quite "nice" to see Tatonka's signature gesture...He used to do this since our college days when we used cameras with real film in them. Somehow, my camera would disappear for a few minutes and when I developed the roll of film, whaddaya know...a few photos had him flipping the bird. My brother and sister used to to that as well. It was always interesting to see how they would sneak in a few "surprise shots". Aaaaah, the good old days of FILM IN A CAMERA, haha.

Healthy potato skins. Not.
By the way, everything here is covered in a thick red sauce. Americanized Italian food.
This was Bert's Italian sausage (which was dry) with meat lasagna:

TC's cheese ravioli (child size):

Superman's adult size Ravioli (which had meat in it):

Tatonka's bone in Prime rib with a side of ravioli, mushrooms, and a baked potato.

Now THAT was a meal.
Scregman's ravioli and spaghetti duo.

Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Tatonka took home the bone for his dog. He had a lot of leftovers. I was surprised to see him eat salad, but at least he was eating something healthy.
Sorry, but ALL of the food above LOOKS THE SAME. Not a good thing. I know it's comfort food for some but I just wasn't feeling it that day. Plus, I was saving some room for that Serbian food.

I'm glad I saved my appetite for our next and last stop. Points to the teen for being a trouper and coming along with me not only for the Indian food crawl but to an ethnic festival I wanted to check out in Clairemont...

I have lived in Mira Mesa since '94 and I have never been in here, haha. I had it catered once for a company event but wasn't terribly impressed. It is weird everything looks exactly the same...
Well, you're not missing anything. It's jut your typical Americanized Italian place. Everything looks and tastes the same. Sorry for sounding like a hater but I like variety, haha.
