Dessert from 85c

Between coffee from Better Buzz and dessert in the near future, we'd gone window shopping at Home Goods (D wanted to see their lamps), Ulta (I bought nailpolish for $2!) and Bookstar at the former historic Loma Theatre...

We thought we could enjoy some desserts at 85C since none of the other gals had been to the new location...

It was a Saturday afternoon and man, it was packed! This was the first time I'd really encountered a long line. We spent thirty minutes in this $%#@ line.

The cheese toast looked so good that I bought one, but as a gift. This was TORC's tray. She had a couple of the mango rolls plus a blueberry bun, taro roll and a few other items featured in the past...

plus D's

and KD's

and mine: (milk bread and hot dog rolls for TC) with a few items for me, Bert and TC and a gift for a friend. I finally got the green tea and red bean roll so we could all share it that evening.

It was so busy that they had people bagging the pastries while you were waiting in line. I think the use of plastic here is a bit too much though.

It was so crowded that we ended up bringing our pastries home to my house.

Through D's generosity, she bought the Tiramisu cake for KD, while we shared bites of the green tea/red bean roll, the mango cake and the Sun pastry.  My nephews (both of whom work at 85C) recommended the tiramisu and I was pleasantly surprised to finally try it.

Of all the different pastries we sampled I liked the cake the best. The mango cake was kind of dry and not that great. Everyone liked the Sun pastry and the green tea cake as well (me, not so much).

It was a huge milestone birthday for KD. We've all known each other for at least 20 years and are so happy that our friendship has endured.

Yay for birthdays and good friends! We tried going here last Saturday evening and the line was way out the door. I was like NOPE, nevermind. I'll come back when it's less busy! That area has gotten pretty popular with all the new shops/restaurants popping up around there.

Yay. and the next birthday is mine (well in a couple of months at least).

I HATE LINES of any sort! Never again will I stand in that long of a line at 85C, ugh!
