Thai Time II

Last week was the first progress report for school. TC did pretty well so we wanted to treat her to dinner out. Cheapa$$ Thriftminded as I am, I looked through my coupons for Thai, which was her cuisine of choice...

We ended up choosing the Thai place in Point Loma...

which is on Midway at this stripmall:

We'd eaten here awhile ago but I never blogged it. They are related to Thai Time III in Clairemont and Ra-Ka-De-Ka Fresh Thai in Mission Valley.

TC thought this was funny - the framed photo of JC (Jesus) high up under this arch. You will see it as you walk in. The colors are very...uh...80's. Salmon pink and teal.

We sat near the front so I could use some of the natural light, which faded pretty quickly since it was nearly sunset. I liked this wood carving.

They also didn't have strong lights in this entry way,. This chandelier barely gave off any light once it got dark.

They had a lot of bird decorations too.

The drinks: TC's coconut juice and Bert's Thai iced coffee.

TC was expecting coconut juice with the thick young coconut meat in there. This was hard bits of mature coconut with some of the brown husk attached. Choking hazard alert!  She had to be careful when drinking this because of those bits of coconut. This beverage also gave her the runs the next day.  TMI, yes, but just a warning in case you decide to drink this!

We used the buy one get one free coupon and got a third dish.

TC got her usual Pad Thai but this time, she ordered it with squid!  Surprise, surprise. She normally gets chicken. The squid was cut in an interesting way and scored, so when it cooked, it looked like a pine cone (to me it did). The squid was also quite tender.

Bert's Spicy Noodles with Shrimp. It was supposed to be a "3" but I guess they forgot to add any spices because this was definitely a "0". No worries. Bert utilized the hot pepper flakes and chili garlic sauce at the table.

I got the Eggplant with Seafood (squid, shrimp, and fake Krab).

It was okay but some of the eggplant pieces weren't fully cooked. I didn't like the fake Krab either. I should have ordered it with just the scallops. The squid in my dish was the same type that was in TC's pad thai.

One last look before our Target run...

Scratch that coupon off the list. We have until November 1st to use the rest of them!

Who else went to Thai Time II?
Mary went here last November

They do not have a website. The one listed on yelp is broken and lists a bunch of wierd stuff on it.

About the Target on Sport Arena Blvd (ironic since the Sports Area is now called the Valley View Casino Center), it's huge! And it has a Starbucks inside too. We haven't been there in ages and I was marveling at how nice it was compared to the ones in Chula Vista. Yes, geeky I am.
