Drinks round up - S3, Kaffee Meister, Starbucks, Influx, Pavaraga, the Forum, Bird Rock (Morena) + Cafe Virtuoso

This is one of them round up posts...

It's easier doing compilations when the mood strikes, so let's start with S3...

Our drinks from a month or so ago...

Bert's Caramel latte

My mocha...the latte art for this one was lacking though.

Both tasted pretty good. My mocha used regular milk. Bert's latte had S3's housemade almond milk. The guy at the counter gave us a tiny sample of their almond milk and it was so much better than the storebought version I'm used to.

Another coffee visit was sometime last month when Bert and I met up with Cathy and her Mister in their 'hood, specifically Kaffee Meister.

Had one o' these! Coupons are my friend.

Our drinks plus Cathy and her Mister's cold brew on nitro.

My cortado which was nice and smooth and served with a small cookie on the side (a nice touch):

Bert's Dark Mocha - Kaffee Meister really makes great drinks. They are well made and with quality ingredients. No Hershey's syrup crap here (although I do like it, ha ha) but a dark chocolate melding well with the almond milk and espresso.  This was a really nice and rich drink.

Some recent Starbucks visits - This was the one inside Barnes & Noble at the Otay Ranch Town Center.  I tried the Maple Pecan Latte iced and with NO whipped cream.  Nice flavors this drink. I would rather drink this than anything pumpkin spice flavored.

Recently Bert and I were in Clairemont (warning - Lightnin' Jack's BBQ SUCKS) and to get the horrid taste of their crappy brisket out of my mouth, used a recent giftcard to try the hot version of the drink. Bert had more of it than I did, but the toasty flavors of this drink did the trick in erasing our so-called meal from my mind.

Another recent visit had me trying the Teavana tea infusions - this was the iced pineapple black tea drink which was very refreshing.

During the Fall Break, TC and I stopped by Influx Cafe (this was after our breakfast at WWW). The drink was for TC - Italian soda, cream flavor, one of her favorites. We just need to buy the syrup so we can make this whenever we want.

Also during Fall Break, TC and I made a quick stop here at Pavaraga in Bonita. Their Pacific Beach location closed earlier this year, sadly.

Their cold brew selection - I ended up getting the  Ka-U Pahala with almond milk and dark chocolate (my normal Ka'U choice was out that day). Since I hadn't been to the Bonita location in awhile, my info was "erased" from their system. In the past, their database would "remember" your favorite drink orders down to the milk substitution.

This particular roast wasn't my first choice but it was still very enjoyable, strong, and smooth.

Recently, Bert and I went to The Forum at night. This was the same night we had that craptastic BBQ in Clairemont.  I know never again not to deviate from Coop's.  But back to the Forum...Look , a new sign. And wow, we were out at night. A rarity.

Fall decor was in full effect....

Our drinks that evening:

This was a repeat of the Over the Top drink I had with D last month (espresso with creamy custard and housemade whip).

Bert, surprisingly tried a drink with lavender in it - the Level Up, a mocha with house chocolate sauce and lavender buds.  The flowers themselves were annoying and he ended up fishing them outl

When we placed our orders, the man at the counter originally said they weren't doing the Over the Top drinks that evening because it would take too long (ten minutes). I told him that I didn't mind the wait so he said he would do it for me.

For my fun day out with Astroboi, we went to Bird Rock Coffee Roasters on Morena Blvd.  They had reopened a few weeks earlier due to damage from flooding.

Coffee for me only this time, a macchiato.  The girl who took my order forgot about me and I had to remind another worker about it. I was kind of peeved about that seeing other folks get their drinks before mine and they had ordered after me too. I mean, really. WTF.

Here is my rush job macchiato.  Kind of crappy looking (it did taste good though):

Astroboi noticed the latte art shape upside down. It's supposed to be a heart right side up but...

Doesn't it look like a limp...uh???

The last place in this longa$$ post is Cafe Virtuoso which we just visited yesterday.

The barista who did the amazing coffee bean plant mural was here today.

Row of Monin syrups on display and for sale too.

Cafe Virtuoso along with Cafe Moto are among my favorite coffee shops in San Diego.

Their new drinks brought us here...Peruvian mini mocha for me and the Toasty toffee nut latte for him (with almond milk)

Both drinks were excellent. My mini mocha was 8 oz which is much more doable than a fkg honkin' huge 16 oz monstrosity.

Mini mocha for the win.

Great nutty flavor with this...

I just may try that blended mocha crunch next time!

This was the last of my hoarded Kohana cold brew coffee bottles.  Cathy had gifted me several bottles which are now gone. I bought more when they were being sold at Grocery Outlet. Those are now gone as well.  This particular day,  I made my own cold brew with almond milk and maple syrup (the good kind not Mrs. Butterworth's or Log Cabin).

I have to say that this was pretty damn good! Not bad at all, with the maple syrup.  During the fall break, I was drinking coffee everyday but now it's just relegated to the weekends.

There are more coffee shops up in never-never land (aka North County) that Bert and I still need to visit.  It'll have to wait until Thanksgiving Break. It's almost November, my gosh.  I'm really glad that there are a lot of great coffee choices in San Diego. It's just a shame that there isn't a great coffee shop down in Chula Vista though...Until Trident Coffee at Bikeway Village opens up in IB, the choices are pretty slim down here...
