Little Lion revisit with Astroboi

A mere one week later...

I was back in OB, but this time...

with Astroboi (the best driver of surface streets EVER besides Cathy of mmm-yoso)...

Astroboi and I made sure to get there super early as in before they opened so we wouldn't have to wait for a seat like last week's experience.

We sat beneath the Belgian Lion plate, a holdover from the owners' grandparents now defunct restaurant.

Natural light by the window was best...

I had iced coffee once again...

Two of us, but three entrees (can you spot the "repeat"?), heh heh...

My bistro burger (grass fed beef, spicy cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions) and on the side, the accoutrements, lettuce, tomato, avocado, shaved onions and gherkins, plus those amazing Belgian fried potatoes.

If you said "the waffle" was the repeat, you are correct.  This was our "dessert" to our brunch.

Astroboi had done his research ahead of time. He studied the menu, then saw what the Educator GF's and I had. Although he was leaning towards the egg salad croissant that TORC had, he wanted to get something different "for the blog" (hey now, I like the way he thinks; he is trained well), so he chose the House Smoked Salmon plate...

Look at that salmon...so tender and slightly smoky. We were both pleasantly surprised by the texture of the salmon. All smoked salmon should be this way where it looks cooked instead of pinkish and raw looking.  This was served with a sliced toasted baguette along with lettuce, shaved onion, creme fraiche, herbed farmer's cheese and a sieved egg (this included both the whites and yolks).

Our spread...

Look at the thick cut bacon, omg. Everything about this meal was amazing.  I just didn't really pick up the burger since it would have been too messy to bite into.  I ate it deconstructed which was just fine with me.

Lastly, we both enjoyed that thin, crisp and sugary waffle.

"TORC's Birthday Crawl - First Stop: Little Lion, OB" October 9, 2017 (last week!)

We still had the rest of the morning to enjoy so a stroll nearby was necessary...
