Return to the Cravory & Embargo Grill

After demolishing the whole coffee program at Mostra and appeasing D's desire to windowshop for home furnishings...we made our way to this strip mall for a two fer...

Maximize our time, I say....

After all those sweets, we wanted something savory...

But before that, we stopped by The Cravory first for some cookies. I used the yelp "check in" (I don't have an account but Bert does) to get a buy 1 get 1 deal. D bought a half dozen plus a few more for KD, the birthday girl.

Cookies & Cream Milk shake for TC and Nutella Toblerone for Bert.

D's half dozen (all are good I'm sure) - sorry I can't name them all.

This...now this...is what we came for.

The Educator GF's let me order...

Cortadito (which I originally ordered but didn't like because it had so much milk in it; KD ended up having it), and Caffe Latte for TORC.

I ended up getting the coffee I had last time with Kirbie (post linked at end), the Cafe Cubano. Much stronger and concentrated.

The spread...

Their excellent Yucca Frita with LOADS of garlic!  Nicely crisp on the outside and melt in your mouth innards...

Papas rellenos - potatoes stuffed with ground beef. The only thing we didn't really like was the marinara like sauce. I didn't realize they would be sauce covered. Me no like wet foods. But don't get me wrong, this was good!

Cubano sandwich  - pork, salami, cheese and pickles. Yes...

Tostones - Even more yes to this.  The twice fried smashed plantain discs were delicious with that creamy sauce!

Empanadas de picadillo - loved the crust here. Look at those bubbles too.

I'd go again just for this!

Who else went to Embargo?
Mary went here recently and I must have her post on the brain because we ended up going here today!

Previous visit to Embargo Grill & the Cravory:
May 2015 with Kirbie

I also wouldn't mind going back to Embargo Grill for that yucca frita and tostones!!! I'm already thinking of an excuse to be in this area again.

The yucca frita looks GOOD with all of that yummy garlic on top. Yum! I remember when I ordered the papas rellenos I didn’t think they’d be covered in sauce as well - I like them better without the sauce. Those empanadas look good, too - I’ll have to try one of those on my next visit.

I feel like if I’m that close to the Cravory then I just have to visit! I love their cookies.

Mary,
Hellz yeah man, that garlic. I normally don't like my food drowning in sauce but this was an exception. Make the trip a two-fer (Embargo then Cravory). I like to consolidate like that, heh heh. Maxmimize the # of places visited.
