Lofty Coffee Co.

Right on the N. Coast Hwy, just a few blocks away from the infamous Surfing Madonna mosaic was this rather newish live/work complex...

which houses the Lofty Coffee Co. on the bottom floor...

I hadn't had any coffee yet that day and wanted to try this place out in our quest to try many of San Diego's coffee joints...

You can either park on the street or in the attached parking garage, which we did.  Another thing to note is that the Lofty Roasting Company is just across the street. We will have to try that place next time. TC and I were curious because it's much bigger, they serve food and it's right next to an art store.

The was very busy so TC and I snagged a table outside while Bert ordered our drinks. The decor was minimal, as most of these hipster coffee places are. They a pourover station and also had one of those really cool looking Kyoto drip coffee makers...

They also serve breakfast and lunch here...

Our drinks: TC's passionfruit/pineapple iced green tea, Bert's Caramel macchiato  and my cold brew Kyoto drip coffee...

The latte art wasn't so great here, at least for Bert's drink. Was that supposed to be a leaf?

As for my cold brew,  I later added cream and sugar

We loved all of our drinks. TC ended up putting honey in hers. My drink was so smooth.  I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any stretch. Much of the techniques that wow the coffee snobs are pretty much lost on me. I like the cold brews because they're not as bitter and I like my drink sweet. If I don't get the cold brew, then it's a blended something or other.

Who else went to Lofty?
Jinxi's post last October sparked my curiosity...

Although we are hardly ever up in this area, Pelly's and the Carlsbad Danish Bakery are two pretty good reasons to make the trip, along with the promise of trying out the Lofty Coffee Roasting Works.

It was nearing 2 pm and we made sure to get our before the southbound traffic got gnarly...

Cold brew is my favorite. I love those crazy contraptions they have for the cold brew. It looks like a science experiment.

I can only handle one cold brew a week, usually a Saturday. I can't do weekdays when I work, or I'll be up all night.
