Our original spot was, Supannee Thai (yes, I'm trying to eat my way through their menu, ha ha), but since my friend is allergic to peanuts, we didn't want to chance anything.

Both she and her husband were staying in Shelter Island for the 14th FANHS National Biennial Conference (which I will post some highlights later). We didn't want to stray too far from their hotel or aggravate her allergy, so we went to Pomodoro across the street from Supannee...
Although we hadn't been here before, it had favorable online reviews and some dishes I wanted to try. It's very cozy inside (and dark); they also had a covered patio area but it was already full. We had a reserved table by the kitchen where we saw (and heard) much of the hustle and bustle. Many of the waitstaff were Italian (Ciao bella!)...

Crappy photo, sorry, eh. But here is a link to their online dinner menu (which I notice is a LOT different or even perhaps outdated):

Bert was initially going to get the lasagna but decided to get something new, the Caserecci. The pasta shape was a long thin twist which held the creamy sauce quite well. The pasta had sausage, fresh tomatoes and mushrooms and was really tasty.

Our friend's husband got the Chicken served with vegetables and a creamy mushroom sauce.

My friend got the Risotto with sausage, sun dried tomatoes and some sort of bitter leafy vegetable (not sure what it was). This was extremely rich and creamy! The other type of risotto they had included squid ink, which she didn't want. She ended up giving us the other half of her dish because she and her husband wouldn't be able to heat up leftovers in their room.

Lastly, my dish, the Black Linguine with scallops, four extremely large shrimp, tomatoes and leeks in a light cream sauce.

Aah, there's that black linguine. Used the flash this time.

My leftovers lasted for two days. My dish and the risotto were quite hearty portions and because of the richness of the sauce, I couldn't handle eating all of it for one meal.
Dessert would be across the street because of course, I had to find some sort of way to return to Supannee. When we got in, around 8 pm or so, all of the tables were occupied but we were willing to sit at the bar...

I ordered both of their desserts (the top two listed). The coconut ice cream had bits of fresh pineapple in it. The tiny banana fritters reminded me of turon but without the thick brown sugar glaze. The mangos were so ripe and luscious. Both desserts were enjoyed by us four...

Look at that honey drizzle...yesssss.....

You are prolific. I've missed checking on you and now I am missing not stopping here when we were in Point Loma.
Pomodoro was a nice place, but busy and loud at night.
