Return to Pegasus Books and Andronico's

We had been snacking all day...first dim sum, then drinks at three different places and Chinese snacks...

To kill some time as well as walk off our calories, we headed over to the Solano shopping district in nearby north Berkeley..

Our first stop was a bookstore that TC and I really liked during our last visit...

There are a few locations of Pegasus Books, including one in downtown Berkeley. This location was on Solano Ave which has a variety of shops, businesses, eateries, and even a grocery store.

The last time we were here in 2011, we bought TC the first "Hunger Games" book which she devoured within days. We were pretty "late to the party" since the first book came out in 2008. The movie was in the process of being made and I ended up reading the book in Spring 2012.

The bookstore was cute, with a lot of eclectic items, like this "1990's Coloring Book", as well as various pins (I bought a smiling vampires and one with the cover of JD Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" (not pictured).

TC spent some of her allowance on "The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict", a prequel to the book series, "The Mysterious Benedict Society". The first book is about Misfit kids who are sent to a school to hone their "special" abilities with Nicholas Benedict, a Professor X-like character.  I still have to read those books!

Bert ended up buying a couple of calendars (deeply discounted) for his office and for TC. They ended up being about $2 each. One was "Renoir" and "London scenes".

After persuing several store windows for fun, we stopped by Andronico's at the end of the street to see if they had any local craft beers. Last time, we bought Drake's Draconic, a chocolate stout from San Leandro, as well as the Great Divide Yeti Stout (not local to the Bay Area but to Denver, CO).

These stores are so nice inside. They remind me of an upscale Trader Joe's but a little more affordable than Whole Foods.

Our beer "souvenirs" were Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout (local to Petaluma, CA) which Thane recommended...as well as another brad Thane likes, Speakeasy.

These photos were taken when we got back to San Diego. We still haven't tried them yet, but will definitely do so once we get some coffee or chocolate ice cream to go with it!

Ooh, "Hard Core Coffee", eh!

The Speakeasy brand hails from San Francisco; this was the "Payback Porter". They had cool graphics on all of their beer bottle. Reminded me of hard boiled detective novels or film noir movies.

We didn't have any more snacks after today's adventures. We needed to save our appetite for dinner later. Remember that restaurant we were originally going to eat at when we arrived in El Cerrito, but we ended up eating at the Red Onion instead? That was going to be our dinner destination
