I hadn't gone to this place in two damn decades...
This place was Rice King. In fact, I had gone with an older Caucasian co-worker who loved Rice King. I didn't even eat there, but kept him company during lunch since I had eaten my lunch earlier that day. Over the years, Rice King was a place I kind of ignored it and never really cared to go back until I was told by a co-worker that Koreans now owned the place and they offered Korean food for lunch, hence our visit.

We ordered a soup (ramen with gyoza) and beef bulgogi. We were surprised to see that the food was so expensive. The beef bulgoi was $15.95, WTF. The waitstaff (maybe it was the owner?) was trying to get us to order a tofu soup (which would have brought up the price). We weren't really expecting to see prices above the $10 price point to be honest.

Water was served in this container:

Panchan:

Our lunch which we split. As good as the meat was, I don't think we'll come back only because for lunch we didn't really want to spent that much money.

The noodles were crappy - packaged noodles. We should have known. Fk. Anyhow, the gyoza was probably frozen. The meat was the only decent thing. The rice portion was tiny but then, we were two splitting the meal so if it was individual, it would have been just right.

:(

In keeping with Korean food, Bert and I went to Bonchon as well. They had insipid K-Pop videos on. Ugh. Someone please kill me now.

Sapporo (no Korean beers oddly enough) plus the chicken bone receptacle:

The wings combo with seasoned fries.

Bert liked the soy garlic wings better than the spicy. The fries were ok. They had a nice crunchy coating. The seasoning wasn't too strong either.

We got there a little after 5:15 and by 5:45, the place was packed.
The next morning, we wanted to use up a gift card at Pop Pie...we hadn't been there for breakfast before, only lunch and dinner.

We got a breakfast pot pie, which the clerk told us usually goes pretty fast. The other items were a sausage roll and the chicken pot pie. She also gave us maple syrup for the breakfast pot pie. I'm not a fan of pouring syrup on savory foods so I didn't really use it. Syrup on top of cheese, bacon, potatoes? No thanks.

The pies were both good but I liked the sausage roll the best. The crusts were so flaky. By the way, coffee here isn't that great. Maybe it depends on which person makes it but the girl working there, as nice as she was, didn't make a good cortado. It was blah and also ugly.
Previous visit to Rice King:

Not sure if I'll ever go back to Rice King. As for Korean fried chicken, there is a new place in the Atlas Market food court but it's all the way up in Poway. We'll have to figure out what else is around there before making a trip since it's so damn far.
