The French Oven revisit

After lunch at Tambayan, D and I headed up north...

we would have coffee but first, the French Oven...

where it was decorated for the holidays, both for Christmas and Hannukah.

As always, their selection was so tempting. One of each please. I wish.

D's - plain and almond croissant but the Nutella brioche:

Here's that nutella brioche again...crumbs on top and rich Nutella innards:

At home, our pastries - almond croissant, croix au sucre (sugar cross), plain croissant, chocolate bread and in the middle, the brioche again.

I used the cheerful holly berry print plates I bought from a yard sale at Clairemont High a few y ears ago. Why not, right? The almond croissant was sliced in half and spread with almond paste inside and topped with sliced almonds. This is one of the best versions we've had.

The croix au sucre - the dough was very buttery and rich. There was also a creamy filling within which was a nice surprise. We've not had this type of pastry before.

It was a nice first visit for D and revisit for me.

Previous visit to the French Oven:
September 2018 for Bert's birthday crawl

KD's birthday is coming up in January and perhaps this could be a stop, unless something else shiny and new attracts my attention and we go there instead, ha ha.
