Boudin SF, Clairemont

In the same strip mall as 85C and Chicken Charlie's FryBQ is a place we visited recently.

That place is Boudin SF which has been long gone from UTC and most recently, the Fashion Valley mall...

Boudin SF opened in Clairemont in Fall 2014 but we have never visited until yesterday.

Enticed by their rewards program (they give free bread each month, hello there!), I signed up in ate November and finally took advantage of their rewards this month.  They have a selection of bread that you can choose from; it is free up to $4.19 in value; if you choose a loaf that costs more, you just pay the difference.  I liked the breads shaped like animals, so cute.

Free loaf man!

Bert and I shared one of their new menu items, the Sourdough Patty Melt - beef patty with a mix of sharp Cheddar and Havarti cheeses, plus sauteed red onions and Parmesan crusted bread.  They cut it in half for us and even halved the salad portion, which came lightly dressed with balsamic vinaigrette.

I'm glad that we shared this light meal.  All that butter and cheese, omg. I haven't eaten beef in a long time either, so this was a nice change of pace as well.

Who else has been to Boudin, SF?
Kirbie visited when they first opened September 2014 and even got a free turtle shaped bread!
More recently, Cathy from mmm-yoso has a compendium of her recent visits, which posted last month and prompted me to join the rewards program. Thank you Cathy!

Ya boi!!! Got my free loaf this month (I wasn't able to get in during late November) and will be visiting this place at least once a month for that, even if I don't buy something to eat, ha ha.  But who am I kidding, I most likely will get a sandwich (apple fig brie is calling my name).

Yep, they tell you that you have to make a purchase that month so they will complete the transaction then immediately do another transaction for the free bread. The bread is good because it is so fresh...and everything there is fresh. It's far more impressive than Panera or Corner Bakery, which we do like.

Good to know. I can't be a total cheapskate then, ha ha. I'll be making my way through those different breads too.
