Temple Coffee, Davis

Davis wasn't that far off

while on the way to Sacramento...

One of our good friends' oldest son would be transferring to UC Davis here in the Fall.  Several of my former students are also studing at Davis.

Although we had coffee earlier at Journey and lunch at our friend's sports bar...it was time for coffee stop #2. I had first head of Temple Coffee from the owner of Duet Coffee in Rolando. She went to school in the Sacramento area and highly recommended Temple Coffee (we would also later visit the one in the capitol).

We noticed the main drag in Davis was pretty upscale. There were a lot of fancy looking restaurants and art galleries. There were bars too and a few smaller type shops here and there, but you could tell this place was a 'rich' feel to it.

Cool  Japanese Kyotyo cold brew drip towers were on display (but not in use it seemed). Our drinks considested of a Gibraltar for me, hot chocolate for TC and a pourover for Bert (Costa Rican single origin).

Bert's coffee had a rich but bright flavor with a little bit of sweetness to it.  He ended up drinking his black so he could enjoy the flavor profile.  My Gibraltar was smooth and well made. TC's hot chocolate was also smooth and rich.

We took a short stroll around the block to see what was around, stopping in a few stores (a book shop, gift shop and the UC Davis satellite bookstore).

I really liked this shirt but they didn't have my size. They only had Men's size L and up.

I NEED an R-2 D-2 college shirt (I already have Yoda for SDSU and UCSB), ha ha.  Sadly, not every university gets rights to Star Wars branded shirts (I'm talking to you UCSD). I only care because we wear college/university shirts every Wednesday. I have quite the collection (from UCSD, SDSU, UCLA, USC and even Harvard).

Glad we were able to stop by Temple.  The place was really busy inside. Lots of professor/professional type folks in there. The vibe was a little different. Not as young/hipsterish like at some other places either.  We could tell they were serious about their coffee here though and that quality makes big difference.

Would we ever get to our hotel?  Since we weren't on a strict timeline....
