We made our way from the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Museum" back to downtown...
This tiny diner had been beckoning for us to eat there since we arrived. Jim-Denny's was within walking distance from our hotel. It's been around since 1934 (older than my parents) and is only open from 7 am to 2 pm. It's very tiny inside with only stools at the counter and by the windows. There are no booths. The place was packed but we somewhere found three seats by a window. There were folks from all walks of life there, from regulars to tourists like us.

The photo above was taken, obviously, after the lunch rush. Love the look and feel of this mom and pop place complete with memorabilia over the decades hung on every wall. Although the diner has been around since 1934, it relocated to this spot in 1940. The original owner passed in the early 2000's.

You don't come here for health food. Everything is made to order.

We shared several items between us. TC's fries. My patty melt and side salad plus Bert's bowl of chili with a side of corn bread. I liked that all of the plates were different.

Juicy! Plus they used red onions for this patty melt which was a nice touch. Bert really enjoyed his bowl of hearty chili. The fries were crinkle cut but not as crisp as I would have liked them to be.

The salad was just to make me feel like I was eating something healthy but who are we kidding. We're on vacation, dammit.

By this time, the winds had died down, unlike earlier this morning where it was a total tear-fest for me. We decided to relax a little before checking out a dessert spot that TC saw in Berkeley that also had a location here in downtown.
