the South (which turned into the North) Coast Highway...
There are several coffee places in nearby Oceanside that we'd been meaning to try last year but didn't get to until today. Revolution Roasters was first on the list.

There is a cool mural on the south facing wall, seating in the front as well as inside. The menu is concise, as it should be. They also sold pastries and breads from various local businesses. I liked that their menu indicated how many ounces the drinks were. See people, a macchiato proper is THREE FUCKING OUNCES not 12!!!

As soon as Bert saw Butterscotch he knew he had to have it. As much as I wanted the Alchemist, I decided to just go simple with a macchiato. Other than the maple latte (which I'm so over now), the other drinks on their seasonal menu didn't speak to me since one drink had cinnamon and the other was sangria with cold brew. It seems like mashing up cold brew with another beverage is a thing now, like coffee mules or coffee lemonade (I've had both and didn't really like it). I may have to try the wine/coffee thing next time, just to cross it off my list because I'm compulsive like that.

Look, Pumbaa is on the wall!

Our drinks:

Macchiato proper with sparkling water. This was pretty strong. I normally don't add anything to my macchiatos but I had to tone it down with some milk and sugar. That is pretty rare for me nowadays.

That butterscotch latte was so very smooth and rich. Bert really enjoyed Revolution's version. He hadn't had a butterscotch latte since we went to that overpriced coffee shop, Hollow in the Inner Sunset during our epic 20 year anniversary trip. We liked the vibe at Revolution. Very relaxed. Friendly baristas. We sat in the back near a spot with children's books and noticed one that we used to read to TC, "The Kissing Hand" (awww, we were reminded of how fast time really does go by), a story about a young raccoon who, for lack of a better word, has separation anxiety, but later on, gets over it. But really, it's a cute book.
As we headed north to our next destination, I snapped a few photos of interesting signage such as this cool Googie sign for Surf Bowl...

and also Angelo's, a burger/Mexican place...

Hmmm...Not very original...
A blatant rip off of this:

Totally not related to coffee but in name only, "Revolution Calling" by Queensryche from their landmark concept album, "Operation Mindcrime" (1988):
Geoff Tate has got one of the best voices in rock. This album was pretty much the soundtrack of the early 90's for me. For the record, I didn't link the band's official site since the lineup no longer features Geoff Tate as frontman (I mean, why bother). I still remember as a teen metal head hearing the thundering riffs and soaring vocals for one of their first hit singles, "Queen of the Reich" (1984) and thinking this was one kick ass band!
Up next, just a few minutes away, coffee stop #2...
