Banana Dang! Coffee + Petite Madeline Bakery, Oceanside

Not too far north from Revolution Roasters was our second stop...

where you cannot miss this cheerful yellow storefront...

featuring, of course a banana...

FYI - The sign was painted by  Grand Prestoz, a San Diego graphic painting and design company. You have most likely seen a sign they painted knowingly or not. They're everywhere it seems. They are responsible for the logos of pretty much every hipster eatery/business such as Coffee, Tea & Collective, Hammond's Ice Cream, Holy Matcha, Project Reo Collective, the owl logo from James Coffee, Tap Room, The Louie, Hawthorn Coffee and Revolution Roasters to name a few.

Dang refers to the co-owner's last name; Thanh-Thanh Dang. She and her husband Mario Jimenez set up shop here a few years ago after having had a coffee shop by the same name in Puerto Rico.  Both used to work in the music industry and left it right when downloading music became a thing (mid-late 90's; please see SD Reader article linked at the end of this post).  They both have an interesting backstory and we were glad to have stopped by their coffee shop.

They feature local roasters as well as smoothies and toast (many which include bananas as a main ingredient).

The shop is bright and colorful, filled with local and quirky artwork. It was also kid friendly with a variety of board games for customers to enjoy to while away the time. The owenrs were so nice and friendly.

Our drinks:

This time I got a cappucino while Bert got a macchiato.

I surprised myself since I normally don't order cappucinos...at all, but wanted something other than a macchiato since I don't really like drinks more than three or four ounces large.  We both enjoyed our second (well, actually third for Bert) round of caffeine that morning.

Third coffee stop was the only one not off the Coast Highway. We parked on a side street, right across from the California Surf Museum...

which is just a few steps away from this Filipina owned bakery, Petite Madeline.

Yes to everything, but in reality...

only two items were procured for later snacking - a pecan stick and a clover leaf Danish (filled with raspberry jam). This was photographed at our last stop of the day but included in this post.

Just know that both pastries were so buttery and flaky and we would have them again and then some, if we ever made a return visit.

The bakery was pretty large inside since it also functioned as a cafe of sorts serving sandwiches and such along with the French pastries in their display case.  It really did smell wonderful in there but we didn't stick around this time.
