Return to Burly & the Bean

It's been nearly a year since we last went to this neighborhood coffee shop...

Since they now offer food...I thought I would partake while I enjoyed my drink..

Justin Boone, the owner was there that morning. He and his wife recently had a baby shower (not sure if they baby was born yet or maybe has been born at the time of this post). He is a really nice and friendly guy.

They have spiffed up the spot since last year.  They still have donated thrift store decor but now there was also a bookshelf, more seating, and the empty space adjacent to the coffee shack was their new garden.

The garden next door...

and the view from in the garden...

I thought I would enjoy my drink and breakfast out here (yes, I ordered the ham and cheese croissant)...

I marveled at how the space was transformed from dirt to this.  There were raised bed filled with healthy looking vegetables. I wished our chard could look as good as theirs. I am still waiting for my zucchini plant to develop...

Wow....

My Nutella mocha and breakfast croissant (warmed up)...

(cripes, look at that monster chard!)

My second breakfast (the first was a hard boiled egg at home):

For a cute photo of the owners (his wife is expecting!), check out the Azalea Park facebook page below:

Plus a nice write up from a visitor which included a short video:

Previous visit to Burly & the Bean:
July 2016

It was nice chatting with Justin as he told me about all of the new developments. The vegetable garden was quite productive and they have given away its bounty to the neighborhood.  Earlier, I saw a ginormous zucchini was was ready for the taking.  It was cool sitting out in the garden and enjoying the peaceful morning...
