Their local high school had an awesome 3D head of their mascot...
This trail was reopened a few years ago after having been closed to the public for nearly forty years. Of the three phases of the trail, we finished the first phase (2.5 miles in) to this bench.

No ocean view due to the morning fog, but it was nice to walk while it was cool and overcase.
Pastries and coffee were enjoyed at the next town up, where the richy rich folks live (hint, Oprah).

After breakfast and coffee, we stopped by this tiny town...

We were at this same overlook last year during our summer road trip.
Our stop also included more coffee...

and then tacos later for lunch back in Carp.

The grim faced Mexican dude on their logo seems so random.

Brewery #2 after tacos...

Plus a farmer's market that same day. There was also the Flower Festival up in Lompoc as well, but we wanted to just concentrate on being in one place during this mini vacation...

Our revisit to this classic mom and pop candy store yielded these treats...

We stopped in the town's museum...

One of the docents was this really nice old lady who happened to be Miss National City back in 1951! The other docent was also one of the folks who helped design/engineer the trail we walked that very morning!
Mangoneada from the taco shop was enjoyed later that afternoon...

Apparently this was the "newer" version of a local foot bridge; the original was torn down almost ten years ago...

There is a seal rookery in Carp...

which is not too far from the Tar Pits...

which are not easily accessible, but we did see the tar deposits on top of the cliffs...

Dinner was at the only Japanese restaurant in town...

We had a pretty full day (can't wait to churn out the full on posts...in due time)...
Tomorrow we would be on our way home...
