Jordan's Crazy Burgers & Hot Dogs

Every Christmas tree needs one of these:

"Red Five Standing By...."

So, after our coffee break, we did stopped by Fresh & Easy to get a few "gifts" (i.e. food items), dropped them off at home, then headed out to lunch at a place that FINALLY opened after seeing the sign for more than a year...

Jordan's Crazy Burgers & Hot Dogs opened up recently in the Otay Ranch neighborhood. It's on the corner of East Palomar and La Media, across the street from Calvary Christian school and right next to Valentino's (which used to be Taste of Italy about five or so years ago).

If you're lucky, you can snag a 1-hour parking spot right in front. If not, you can park down the block or across the street by the church.

This was once the location of a D'Volada coffee shop but it went out of business a few years ago. Anyhow, I had a coupon for this place so we went to try it out...

The decor is appealing for the sportsminded or if you're a kid. They had pendant lamps in the shape of soccer balls and footballs plus paintings of various figures in sports poses.

Their menu is pretty basic. Burgers, dogs and fries. They are missing onion rings and beer but maybe those will be added later. There were also some typos on the menu (ex: "flamming" instead of "flaming"). Not a lot of seating inside but they do have a covered patio outside.

The stadium seats are supposed to be authentic seats from New York Yankee Stadium and Philadelphia's Veteran stadium. There was also a turnstile (seen below) which lent to the sports like ambiance.

They had Mexican chips by the front counter. I'd heard of Takis but not Tostachos. Love that name!

The people in front of us...Had to get the rug in here.

This awesome creation was on their front counter. Where can I get one of these????? Ha ha. It reminds me of those piggy banks you can get in TJ, like Bart Simpson or the surfing Chimpanzee.

I apologize for the "orange" hued photos which was due to their patio cover. Our burgers: the Philadelphia and the Hawaiian.

The Hawaiian had a fried onion ring, a slice of pineapple and cheese. The burger was teriyaki flavored an came with lettuce and tomato. We ended up dividing both burgers in half. The Hawaiian was mainly for TC.

The Philadelphia had grilled onions along with green and red peppers (which weren't really grilled that well), hot peppers, and provolone cheese. Now, tell me if I'm wrong, but the hot peppers shouldn't have been jalapeno, right?

I ended up picking out the jalapenos. I was kind of irked that they were even in this burger at all. Bert kept his in. Well, it's his colon!

TC's Hawaiian burger was a bit messy. There was just too much stuff on it, but she really liked it.

While writing this post, I realized we weren't asked how we wanted our meat patties.  Maybe that's how they roll - they cook it the same way for everyone? The patties were good but not as good as Halphen Red's.

Would we go here again? Probably not, but maybe, just to try the hot dogs. This place is a little on the pricey side with burgers running about $6.50 and more. The regular french fries we had were too salty. They were of the frozen variety. Other fries offered were crinkle cut and twisty fries. The service was good. Our waitress was busy making sure everyone had what they needed.

We were happy with our half burgers. We didn't want to eat too much since there was going to be a Christmas partay at Thor's later that evening! Yes, Thor's and not our house (where it normally is)!

You'd think if they could make that giant onion ring for the Hawaiian burger that making a batch as a side would be feasible. Your photos make the burgers look good...but those Philly 'hot peppers' are wrong.

Yeah, you're right! I'd rather eat onion rings than fries.

The orange patio cover really screwed up the colors. It even made TC's hair look like she dyed it.

Jalapenos on a Philly is a travesty.
