We found street parking just a few steps away. The place was pretty busy. We also found out that they cannot serve you outside. Then, I wonder WTF the tables outside are for then?! Maybe for those people that take it "to go" I suppose...

One of the outside windows had their specialties posted. In retrospect, I wished I had more room to try their menudo and their pozole but we had a long ass list of places to try and there was no way to finish all that food between two people.

Their menu...

We got the flautas de papa (potato), order of 4 ($4.99 - kind of pricy but they were so good!). They also had chicken and beef but we opted for the non meat version.

This was a nice surprise - we were served Costillas (rib meat), a free appetizer which was served with three of the freshest corn tortillas I've ever had. These tortillas were so good and practically melted in my mouth.

The flautas were topped with lettuce and cheese and served with consomme. Now, I don't know if we ordered the right thing but the flautas were not as thin as I expected. I thought maybe they'd be made out of flour tortillas but these were corn. These were basically potato rolled tacos but with a thinner tortilla.

I know this wasn't a lot of food but next time, hopefully with more people, we will be able to sample more offerings.
Who else at at Don Vicente? As usual, your mixed bag of Yelp reviews...
Next up...going down south to Chula Vista!

I liked the free appetizer too. Yeah the flautas' seemed like rolled in corn (albeit thin) and not flour tortillas, were good though and the broth it came with was nice. The pozole both red and green looked fantastic. Next time!
my friend said flautas are not supposed to be flour but corn.
i've never had green pozole so that is on my 'to eat' list.
