I took advantage of a few freebies and coupons I received in the mail. So...after work today, I headed over to the mall for my free (or practically free) shit.
@ Sephora, FREE body wash by Philosophy. The scent is "Vanilla Birthday Cake". Last year, it was some eyeshadow thing but I never used it because I didn't like the colors. Not sure about smelling like Vanilla cake though. Hmmm. Note: See that pink thing? That's TC's Snuggie as seen here. She actually likes wearing that when it's cold!

Because I have the store credit card, I got my $15 gift certificate from Ann Taylor which can be used at any AT, AT Loft or AT Factory Store. In this case, I went to the Loft. This is a sleeveless cotton/modal sweater on sale for $20 (from $44.50) but ended up being only $5 with my coupon. I really liked the pleating detail at the neck. I do have a lot of black tops but they usually have an unusual detail or texture to them to add visual interest.

I also got my $15 Birthday coupon from Banana Republic. I found this black 3/4 quarter sleeve sweater on the clearance rack for $21.72 (kind of a wierd price point - it was also a "Final Sale") and it was 25% additional off. With the $15 coupon, this sweater ended up being only 72 cents!!! WTF! Score!!! I remember seeing this sweater during the holidays but didn't want to pay $79 for it. The sweater is cropped and has a hidden fastener at the top only. No buttons the way I like it. Buttons irritate the fk out of me. The ruffle detail and the rosettes are a bit girly for me but I have some ideas on how to butch this up and make it look more of my rocker style.

Because I am such a shoe H00R, especially after joining the rewards/points program, one of the perks is the $10 Birthday coupon. Also depending on how many points you rack up during the year, you also get $10 or $20 off gift certificates. I found this rad pair of rat gray Converse in the clearance section. It's got a double tongue (like my pink and purple ones) with a pink diamond pattern within. The white shoelaces are also edged with metallic gold (I would prefer it to be silver but hey, I can always change out the laces). This was $20 with the coupon...Can't wait to wear these!

Lastly, this did not involve a coupon but more of a "Hey, I just got paid last night and I want to splurge" feeling. Plus, I was totally lusting after Darlene's MAC Limited Edition Wonder Woman Russian Red lipstick the other night, but the Macy's MAC counter was all out of the WW lipsticks (the tubes are red and blue and bullet shaped)! I would have wanted the "Spitfire" shade (a darker purplish red, more of my color palette). When I was there, some dude was buying the Lady Gaga lipstick for his girlfriend (Uh, sure it was for his GF...).
Instead, I bought the WW "Defiance" eye shadow palette. This was $40 and considering each MAC eyeshadow normally goes for $15, this was a bargain. The shades are light cream, pink, purple and a I darker brownish burgundy color which I really love. The girl working the counter was rocking these shades and it looked so good on her. We had a similar skin tone so I'm pretty sure this will work for me as well. It will be a change of pace from my usual shades (MAC Brulee, Quarry, Fig and Sketch). The other palette had shades of blue and I definitely won't wear blue eyeshadow because I'll end up looking like a demented clown.

Plus, how can you not love the awesome packaging? I think that Luke Cage ("Powerman") copied Wonder Woman's twin wrist cuff look.

I did get a $10 off coupon from Macy's for my birthday month but I ended up using it get some nice tops for TC because she needed something nice to wear instead of just t-shirts all the time.

Spring break is the week after next and I am looking forward to trying new places and taking advantage of free birthday meals and deals (not on my birthday). Heh, heh.
