Faulconer is the top contender and the Republican choice...
Now this guy didn't make the cut. Plus, he flip flopped his political party! WTH...

We live in Chula Vista, so we can't vote for the Mayor of San Diego...
Somewhere in the hills of Point Loma, a sign for the other mayoral candidate, David Alvarez, who is a Democrat.

I was actually surprised to see an Alvarez sign here since Point Loma is pretty white and conservative. Many of the Alvarez signs I've seen are south of the 8.
After the fiasco that happened earlier this year with Bob Filner, it will be great to have a new mayor who isn't a lecherous pervert! It could be worse, we could have a crack smoking foul-mouthed mayor like Toronto (sorry my Canadian friends)!
But enough about politics, TC and I were here to pick up a few items from San Diego's only Portuguese market...
I'd forgotten how to get there so I did a few wrong turns near Shelter Island before finally remembering the street. Our Garmin's batteries ran out as well. Below, a very kitschy Polynesian inspired liquor store, Trader Mort's complete with a carved tiki on the corner of Scott St. and Shelter Island Drive.

So groovy, ha ha! (out this link about the liquor store from critiki)
The Portuguese Market has its own parking lot. It's housed in the building of the United Portuguese S.E.S. Hall.

We entered through the very back since the market is closer to the back entrance.

I didn't take any photos in the store (you can refer to my older post for those) but here were some of the items I bought:

For TC, Kiki orange soda ($1.35), and two chocolate bars from the Azores ($1 each. One was pineapple flavored; the other was passion fruit).
I also bought a 12 pack of these Sumol sodas since it was cheaper this way ($10). They only had the pineapple flavor in the 12-pack, not the passionfruit which we like more.

As promised by my previous post about this market, I did get the vinho verde, the Casal Garcia ($8.00)!

I bought two bottles of these and hope to enjoy one of the bottle for a future dinner with our neighbors (My friend's husband proposed to her with this wine; he is Portuguese).

For Bert, I bought a six pack of Super Bock minis ($7) - These bottles are so tiny and cute!

The beer is actually light and refreshing, and I don't even like beer!
Previous visit to the United Portugues S.E.S. Market:
November 2012
Since we were in the area...(that's always a mantra for going to several other places while on errands), I thought we would check out a local bakery...
