A visit to Mary's is not something to pass up when you're in Santee...
It was a Sunday and business was pretty steady the whole time we were there...

It smells so good in here!

These aren't "artisanal" but I LIKE 'EM THIS WAY! Plain, normal, non-pretentious, tasty, and affordable! And these are all hand formed too. No machines used in the making of these beautes.

So many choices...

No French crullers during our visit...According to Cathy, they make 'em fresh in the evening.

The lady was so patient as I made my selections. I got a couple of fruit burritos (rolled and fried jam filled tortillas covered with glaze)...

These were CAB's and Cathy's donuts: a twist (Cathy's), plus a Bavarian creme filled chocolate donut and an apple filled donut (CAB's):

Mmm...apple! This was fresh out of the oven too!

My stash of donuts - I ate one of the creme puffs already. It was funny because when I was taking this shot, the lady who was working the counter came over and suggested I "turn over" the fruit burritos so that we would see the fruit and not the seams of the burrito. She was right! It made for a better photo too because the fruit spillover looked pretty and also demonstrated what "flavor" each burrito was.

A maple old fashioned for Bert; the plain one would be for me the next day. It ended up getting smashed in the paper bag. I was hoping the lady would give me a box, but no...didn't happen.

My still intact plain old fashioned...

A humongous Apple Fritter which was as big as a baby's head (maybe bigger)...This would be for Bert's morning coffee ritual. I had a few bites later that day and was impressed. I normally don't like apple anything, but this was so good!

The creme filled innards of my tiny cream puff. I should have done what CAB did - order a dozen of these! That just means I have to make a special trip out here again! The other variation of this is raspberry filled.

We saw this sign BEHIND the donut sign. Apparently, a former customer made these wooden cartoon character wall hangings (circa 1950's) for the original owner, Zona.

There's Donald Duck (partially obscured), plus Goofy, Bugs Bunny and a cow (not sure what character that is supposed to be)...

Those hand carved and painted wooden cutouts are scattered all over the place, along with wall to wall photos of the customers taken over the past few decades. Nice to see so many happy faces on the walls.

Here's Minnie Mouse and Chip and Dale. Notice that all of the characters are depicted holding donuts! That is so cool!

Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Popeye and a monkey....yes, with donuts!

Isn't this Toucan Sam, the Fruit Loops mascot? He's channeling his inner Carmen Miranda here!

We originally thought this was Yosemite Sam, but this isn't him. This is perhaps, a Mexican bandido since Yosemite Sam has red hair. I also noticed that this cutout doesn't have the character holding a donut. What's up with that!

I didn't forget those fruit burritos. In addition to the cream puff, I ate the END of the blueberry fruit burrito while in Mary's. Just the ends. Okay, and a few bites later at home. TC and Bert enjoyed the raspberry one at home as well.

OMG, fried and sugary goodness! So glad we went here! My total for all my donuts was $6.30. The lady even comped me the two crea, puffs (I tipped her later), which was an unexpected but nice gesture.

Holy cow, that WAS ginormous!!!!!
I normally don't like apple anything, but that apple fritter was really good!
Donuts!!! I have always been curious about this place when we want our Sonic cherry lime-aid fix! Apple fritters are my hubby's fave. We must stop by next time. Thanks for sharing! :)
Hi Janice, yes, give them a shot. I am sure you guys would like their apple fritters and other donuts! :)
Fresh donuts, 24/7...mmm. It was so good to be able to sit down inside and be able to visit; we just missed the morning crowds. Those cream puffs are such a simple, wonderful treat.
You are so lucky that Mary's is just down the road from you. The cream puffs are nicely bite sized with a good price point (.33). perfect to snarf down, one or two or three (haha).
