(card from TORC)
Hallmark this wasn't! I thought the card was funny though!
This year, we didn't go out. I wanted something low key and for the family to come over and just enjoy themselves, especially the nephews (all five) and my brother's new baby, who has booted TC out of being the lone girl amongs all the boy cousins....
The dinner spread - With the exception of the Pancit bihon and lumpia, which was made by my parents, everything else was prepared by me. In the foreground, Panko crusted honey mustard salmon, and spinach salad.

Wait, the Filipino fruit salad was also from my mom...which kept company with the Israeli cous cous with garbanzos and almonds. My dad made the mini lumpias. He thought it would be more fun to eat smaller ones than one big one.

Below, Tatonka serving himself (WGASA stands for "Who gives a $#it anyways"). The strawberries are courtesy of the Strawberry Fields in Chula Vista...

Spinach salad with strawberries, red onions, toasted pecans and poppyseed dressing. This is so easy when you use bagged baby spinach. I would make this again but without those red onions; they were too strong.

I had another big corned beef saved in the freezer from St. Patrick's day. This was the slow cooker Corned beef (I didn't use cabbage this time). This was the most popular item that night. No leftovers!

I resurrected the Asparagus gruyere tart, but made it myself this time instead of employing child labor. It's nice when aspargus is on sale!

The dessert table which was really simple this year. The oval bowls held two new Hershey's kisses flavors: Coconut and Cookies and Creme.

My first attempt at Raspberry and blackberry mochi cake:

Along with my first attempt at Chocolate chow mein noodle cookies:

And once again, my birthday cake from jennywenny:

Here it is cut up - The top layer was "Hummingbird" - banana, pineapple and coconut with pecans and a cream cheese filling. This became the new favorite for several folks that night...

The bottom layer was dark chocolate with chocolate mousse and raspberry filling! I ended up freeezing the last few pieces to enjoy later.

The green straws (dowels?) were used to give support for the top layer.
During the evening, our DVD compilation of Cartoon Network's "The Regular Show" played continuously. This was a screenshot from the Basketball Episode. The character you see below was voiced by Carl Weathers, aka Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies.

Haha, we still have our Easter pez up.
Here's the previw of that episode, "Slam Dunk":
This is my favorite scene (which includes the screen shot of the pimpmobile)P
The voice is the guy who played Apollo Creed, Carl Weathers (aka Action Jackson). I like that the guy is wearing a cape and has basketball "balls" knocking together at the back bumper!
It was a pretty relaxed evening with the family, neighbor and her girls, and Tatonka...
April is still not over yet...
