Lucky for me, she is also willing to try new things, so this meant another long overdue visit to one of my favorite restaurants, Asia Cafe...
The last time I was there was back in December with Bert, TC, Tatonka, Thane of the Universe and his preternaturally well behaved son, Thane Jr. The condiments at the table - various chili sauces, peanuts, chili oil, fish sauce, etc, plus the menu with out of date prices (add .50!).

My friend let me decide. For readers familiar to the blog, you've seen this all before. This was "the usual" - sticky rice in a basket...

plus Yum Asia (marinated seafood salad)...She liked the scored squid and the sweet and sour and spicy flavors.

This was the Seen Name Toke, marinated beef with a citrusy fish sauce.

Of course, we had to try the Nam Khao (fried rice with fermented sausage). I noticed that the sausage didn't have the stringy skin attached as in previous visits. I kind of like it without because the skin texture was a bit too chewy for my liking. This was more "meaty".

My friend (who still doesn't have a nickname for my blog; I'll have to think of one) really enjoyed everything that we had that night. So that was three for three. I'm so glad she liked my choices. We had to save room for dessert later that evening.
By the way, if you go for dinner at Asia Cafe, you need to get there early because they close at 6:30 pm. It was nice going there again and having a relaxed meal with my friend. The younger son was there that day. The last time we went, his father told us that the sons were visiting the motherland! Turns out the younger son (Johnny) liked it so much that he didn't even want to return! His trip sounded like a lot of fun!
Up next dessert...
